We have been going to Base for 4 years and in that time i have never eaten anything that was not truly outstanding. Mark and the team consistently offer a choice of great options and execute the meals with skill and passion, showcasing local produce. Lunch Club is our absolute favourite. The restaurant provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Front of house is always first class.

Gorgeous little cozy pub, rustic setting, dog friendly so always a bonus. Staff were friendly enough but seemed to be just doing what they had to, not overly enthusiastic, and the girls seemed to be whispering in corners and laughing after speaking to customers, could just be chit chat, but didn’t look good. However I have to say that after reading the amazing reviews of the food, I was very underwhelmed. We both went for the steak and Guinness pie, pie was nice but nothing to write home about, meat was tender, however the sides completely let the dish down, frozen veg, and frozen fries, not even proper chips, gravy wasn’t great either.

Attended the base for a birthday meal. We have been before and had the set menu but opted for the main menu this time. The food was lovely. High quality produce.

Beds were comfortable.

They cleaned your room which a lot of AirBnBs I have been to don't.
They gave you free tea.
Parking onsite.
Nice view.
Overall quite nice.
Only thing I didn't like was toilet was separated to room.

Lunch with a girlfriend, we shared a starter, main each, again shared a desert. Fantastic flavours as always, absolute treat.
Also noticed that some of the main dishes are offered at half size and price for adventurous children, this alongside the children's menu. So friendly and accomodating, brilliant idea.
