The La’al Big Band was formed in April 2011 by a group of like-minded musicians to provide West Cumbria and the Lake District with its own jazz/swing orchestra.

Since then the band has received rave reviews, both in Cumbria and further afield, with regular appearances on BBC Radio Cumbria and having material from their latest CD “ The Big Band Theory” played on BBC Radio 2’s Claire Teal Show

A show of musical history, celebrating the great bandleaders, arrangers and performers of the 20th century and beyond. The show charts the development of big band music from its beginnings in the 20s & 30s to the current day, through landmark performances and arrangements. Littered with memorable songs from the Great American Songbook sung by vocalist Deanne Shallcross and plenty of powerhouse ensemble playing from the amazing 17-piece line up.

Relive The Golden Age of the Big Band Sound with notable arrangements from the libraries of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Billy May, Nelson Riddle and many, many more in this entertaining two hour energy packed show.
