If you want to know what The Oaklea Trust is really about, strip it back to its bare essentials - we’re all about people. At The Oaklea Trust we believe that every child and young person should be able to take part in activities they want to do. Our Short Breaks programme, funded by Cumbria County Council, is designed to give children with disabilities and/or additional needs a variety of supported activities to take part in. This is to allow parents/carers to have a real break from caring. We deliver this service to families living within the South Lakes and Furness areas of Cumbria. Dependent on the age of your child you can access either group activities or an individual short break.

The individual support service is for children aged 0 – 8 years and is for families who aren’t currently in receipt of any other care managed package from Social Services or a Direct Payment. The service provides up to 2 hours of 1:1 support each week for up to 9 months. To access this service a referral needs to be made to Oaklea via either health or social care professionals or directly by the family. You can download the referral form from our website.

Group Activities are available for two age ranges 9-13 and 14-19. We run a variety of weekly activities during term times and during school holidays we offer a range of half day, full day and full weekend activities. We work with local providers to ensure that we offer a range of quality activities to suit all ages, abilities and interest.
