Actually, that's not quite the case. I'm sure the festivities will be as jolly as usual. Sadly, as is the case with most weird interventions from our local authorities, Operation Ghost, as it's being aptly named, is due to the usual few troublemakers spoiling things for the rest of us.
The Kidderminster police are encouraging local shops to only sell flour and eggs to over 18s! Not sure how this is going to affect anything. Surely, a troublemaking youth with more than 2 brain cells will just nick the stuff from home anyway?!
Don't get me wrong, I'm in total support of keeping celebrations reasonable and not upsetting/frightening our law-abiding community, I just think that sometimes these so called 'operations' are more of a PR exercise for the authorities, than actually acheiving anything useful.
What about the perfectly innocent teenagers that are perhaps being good citizens and shopping for their own grandparents? I guess this week, the nans and granddads of Kidderminster will just have to do without their pancakes!
