A care home in Kidderminster is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 28th June, from 10am-5pm, the team at Brook Court on Oldnall Road will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Brook Court has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to live singing and dancing to get everyone in the party spirit, as well as enjoy poetry readings from local pupils at Foley Park Primary School. There will also be artwork on display and a poets’ corner for everyone to enjoy.

Gillian Pratt, home manager at Brook Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is such a wonderful opportunity for our home to connect with the local community and show what it’s really like to live in a care home. We’re counting down the days until we welcome the people of Kidderminster into Brook Court.

“The residents are really excited to showcase their artistic skills, and we’re all particularly looking forward to poetry reading with the local pupils. I know the residents and community are going to have a great time!”

As part of a nationwide competition across Care UK homes, Brook Court will be developing a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which will be showcased at the event.

Brook Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home, which features 67 en-suite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
