About a year ago, in October 2012, I realised that my finances were getting out of control. There didn't seem to be enough to pay the credit card bills. I went for some financial advice. Two things that were highlighted were the large amounts spent on smoking and gambling. I'm ashamed to say that my gambling losses were higher than my expenditure on smoking. I decided to save myself £9000+ by giving up both. I went to see Matthew. He planted an aversion in my mind. He reminded me of the dejected feelings that I have when I lose, and switched those feelings to occur before I gambled. This meant that I didn't gamble. Regarding smoking - he created an aversion to that by having me associate it with something that would make me throw up. All the time he emphasised the benefits of not smoking. It is a year now without these destructive habits. My finances are not perfect yet but I am well on the way. Thank you Matthew. Lucy
