“Just to say we really enjoyed the Pitch and Putt day on the 14th July 2007. We would like to join Peter Turrall (President) in praising Sam Barnett (CEO) on all her hard work and excellent organisation of the day, which everyone enjoyed. The members and committee are very appreciative of the effort Sam makes. It was great to see that despite their disabilities they were able to enjoy a normal happy day. We had a lovely team can we book them for next year!” John & Iris Siddall – Billericay

Published in Essex Chronicle 20/09/07: “Having read your recent article on this summer’s Chelmsford Mencap Daybreak Scheme I would ask that the Chronicle pass on my thanks to all the staff and volunteers who made the days out such a resounding success. My grandson Ben has autism and is, as a consequence, very hard to please. Despite this, he was fully occupied throughout the summer holidays with a whole range of activities, all of which he looked forward to well in advance and subsequently thoroughly enjoyed. He loved every minute of every day he spent on the scheme and befriended all of the helpers that looked after him and contributed to his enjoyment by appearing to understand his needs so well. We can’t thank them enough.” Jacqueline Groenendyk – Great Baddow
“As the past Health Minister I am only to aware of the shortfall in provisions for people with Special Needs and I would personally like to thank Sam Barnett for identifying this requirement and the setting up of the new learning disability youth club for people with Learning Difficulties aged between 16-25 years”. Simon Burns MP at the launch of the new CMYC Youth Club 15/1/08

“I would like you all to know what a great job you all do and how much happiness you and your group of volunteers bring to all the people you help and how other people could learn from experiencing spending a little time with people who need a little extra special help, whatever it may be..” Deb Panteli – Chelmsford
“Just managed at last with the children having returned to school to find time to send a million thankyou’s to everyone involved with the Chelmsford Mencap Daybreak Summer Scheme. Having 2 autistic children, the summer break can be horrendously long and very isolating not just for us but for many families, Chelmsford Mencap makes everything that little bit easier. The care, support and safety of our children is always paramount to parents and every year Chelmsford Mencap shine in their total ability and professionalism. The kids enjoyed everyday without fail with the laughter and care of a huge team of thoroughly “selfless” individuals. THANKYOU. ALL OF YOU xxx” Justine Keaton – Chelmsford
“Thank you Sam for sending me the FREE carers haircut voucher, its made my day!” Heather Knight - Chelmsford
