North London Hospice is dedicated to provide care for and improve the quality of life for people in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey who face a life-limiting illness and to provide practical support to them, their families, friends and carers.
North London Hospice
"Like most people, I thought that the hospice movement was something that happened as part of end of life - you went into a hospice and you didn't come out. North London Hospice is so much more than that. Without them I would be sitting in isolation and pain."
Diane Waterman, patient
What does North London Hospice do?
North London Hospice helps people in Barnet, Enfield & Haringey to live with a life-limiting illness. Hospice care is not just about dying but about helping people with a terminal illness to be free from pain and enable them to live the best possible life they can. The care extends to families, friends and carers too so that everyone involved is supported as much as possible.
We offer:
Care at home
In-patient unit
Bereavement service
Spiritual care
Patient visits and care
The Hospice has two community teams of healthcare professionals who visit patients at home, enabling many people to remain there until the end of their lives.
In-patient unit
If necessary, a short stay in the 17-bed inpatient unit at Woodside Avenue can help with pain control, give specialist end-of-life care or allow carers to have some respite while the Hospice looks after the patient.
Bereavement counselling
Bereavement counselling and support is offered to families, friends and carers for up to 14 months after a patient has died.
Spiritual care
North London Hospice views spiritual care as a significant part of the service we offer to both patients and families. We are proud of our identity as the UK's first purpose built, multi-faith hospice.
New Hospice opening in Enfield
In spring 2012, the Hospice is opening a purpose-built Day Hospice in Enfield offering medical treatment, physiotherapy, alternative therapies and therapeutic activities. Patients and carers will also be able to meet with others to share experiences in this new facility.
