Barnet FC fly the borough’s flag into football’s marathon

It’s 13 weeks since relief, joy and exhilaration swept Underhill as Barnet FC beat Port Vale to keep their Football League status. As the new season gets underway, the joy and relief turns to anticipation as Barnet’s fans, just like those of every other team throughout the country, build their hopes for what might be.

Barnet head to Morecambe hoping to start their season in style and provide their faithful fans with football at the top end of League 2 rather than the lower half which they’ve endured too often in the last few seasons.

Of the 23 London Boroughs only 12 can boast Premier or Football League clubs and Barnet should be proud to be on that list. Of course many fans and much attention is drawn to near neighbours Arsenal and Spurs and certainly they provide a view of the top stars.

But what Barnet provide is a club close to the community and, most of all, a club that is accessible and affordable for all ages.

While many will head to Arsenal and Spurs, a visit requires planning (to ensure you can actually get hold a of a ticket) and plenty of money (as Arsenal’s fans know only too well – they’re the country’s most expensive team to watch).

Barnet, like many football league clubs, work close to their roots – a local club for the local community.

And if you are in or around Barnet on a Saturday over the next 9 months, you have a great opportunity to enjoy some football league action and, what’s more, it’s not hard to get in and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg

Whereas the common complaint of fans is the cost of watching football, Barnet have some amazing ticket offers – how about a family ticket for 4 for £30 or under 14s can buy a Bees membership for just £20 and get in free to every game of the season

Find out more at their ticket hotline 020 8449 6325 or on the Barnet website

It’s a long season, with lots of Saturdays until the middle of May if you’d like to see football close up, give Barnet a go and help push the borough’s team up the league.
