Very nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced and a lovely spa.
Only problem we had was the cleanliness of the room, with stains down the walls and on the carpet. Hair and other debris in the carpet which clearly hadn’t been hoovered. Cracked tiles and a broken tap in the bathroom and stains on the chairs among other things, it seemed as if the cleaners had only changed the bedding and not touched the rest of the room.
Apart from the cleanliness of the room, the rest of our stay was very nice, food in the restaurant on the nighttime was lovely and fairly priced.

I came with my Mum and sister for a spa day, which was really lovely and relaxing. The deal included afternoon tea which was delicious. We’ll be back for another visit!

Really lovely weekend stay at the hotel and spa. Both are starting to look a little tired round the edges, but the quality of service and facilities more than made up for this.

I thought I had previously reviewed our visit, but in case I’ve recently been censored, here’s another try. We stayed two nights via a db+b deal. A very friendly welcome from reception, where we discovered that a different room was chosen. On the second floor miles away, but with a great view of the landscape beyond. The room was big and spotless, and probably the quietest we’ve ever experienced. No doubt because it’s location. Anyway all brilliant. Also to mention, a lovely stroll to the Thorn Inn, a character pub. And an even better walk from there, along the canal to the Roebuck pub, a character pub full of characters !
And another thing, have a nosey in the original hotel rooms, at some superb architectural features.
So we really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to all.

Hotel was lovely, room was spacious and clean, slightly too warm as we were above the spa. Tina at breakfast was fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. Nice to see a smiley face so early in the morning! Lenny was also lovely, she was very chatty and genuinely cared. Overall would recommend this hotel, staff have been fantastic.

I went to the Boogie Bingo Christmas party night with friends. Let’s start with the positive. We booked a room for three people, bed and breakfast for £40 per person, which we all thought was good value for money. Room was spacious, lovely and clean. The customer service at reception/in the bar was really good too. As a party we felt like there was one or two things that would make our night/stay at Dunkenhalgh go from a 3 star to a 5 star.

We paid £50 a head for the Boogie Bingo, this included a two course meal and entertainment. Other places we have been to included a three course meal for the same price. Our meal came, it was tiny and barely warm. Two of our group have gluten intolerance, one with a really severe gluten allergy. There was nothing highlighted on our table to show this to the waiter/waitresses. Our meals were just placed down on our table, leaving us with no idea if our meals were gluten free! Not one single member of staff understood the seriousness of someone with a food allergy! The Boogie Bingo was good but went on too long. On a more positive note the drinks weren’t badly priced.

The next morning we went down for breakfast, after informing a member of staff of our gluten allergies, she sat us down at the table and told us to just help ourselves! To say we were gobsmacked was an understatement. We complained and the lady handed us an allergen booklet. No explanation on how the food had been prepared. The booklet told us there was gluten free bread so we had to ask for that. A simple explanation from the member of staff would have been helpful! I highly recommend extra training for all staff on food allergies.

After breakfast we decided to use the spa. To which we were greeted with you have to pay £30 to use the Spa once you have checked out! This was never explained to us. The lady in the Spa would not let us in. Thankfully reception in the main hotel gave us a card allowing us entry. The Spa changing rooms are run down and in need of a face lift. The Spa itself we really enjoyed.

Despite one or two faults, this would not deter us from staying at the hotel and we would ring ahead before arriving for food and make sure our gluten allergy is highlighted to the staff.

Hotel was lovley from what we seen, we went as a part of 6 (3 couples) and was situated in rooms 62/63/64. There was a wedding within the hotel so as expected this was noisy with music which I can accept to a degree however we was next to where the bins are filled and upto midnight on a number of occasions there was loud noises filling the bottle bins meaning we did not get to sleep till early hours of the morning. And then again 7:30am the bins was being filled/ emptied and hear smashing of bottles. We didn’t even stay for breakfast as just wanted to get home for some sleep. Informed the man at reception who apologised and said next time he will write a note to me in a more ‘quiet area’ however not sure will return after this experience.

We had a brilliant time at Boogie Bingo for our ladies Christmas get together! Great food, fantastic DJ and excellent service from our waiter Caine. Great atmosphere and lots of fun and dancing. We’ll definitely be booking more events.
