we stayed here for one night, during our trip to Lake District. On the whole very pleased with the hotel. great location and staff are fantastic.
Breakfast is great too - full English and well cooked with a good spread.
only slight drawback is the lack of parking, mainly due to the central location. We can easily park at the massive secure car park just across the hotel for a reasonable £4.00 per 24 hour period. But I feel there were a lot of cars that were not hotel guest and I reckon this can be better enforced so as to be fair to hotel guests, hence the 4 stars.
Room wise the usual high standard of a Holiday inn was prevalent. Nothing to complain about but was very good.
Would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a hotel in Preston.

Can't complain for a one night stop. Rooms fine and clean, bar OK. Everywhere looked quite modern and clean so really can't complain.

Was a busy morning on the Sunday so could have done with a few more staff floating around, however that said would come again.

Only downside is the utterly inadequate car park for this size of hotel!!!

Staff are very good, food had issues, room was dirty, we pointed out issues with food on 1st night and staff went the extra mile on the 2nd night, but with the other issues we had still made it feel that the birthday weekend trip for my partner got spoilt

I was part of a coach tour of over 40 people. They cope with us and another coach load by providing a rather basic buffet dinner. Room was good, and lift welcome. Comfortable hotel, and recommended. Coach driver missed the entrance, so it could be better signed.

Stayed 1 night as a birthday treat. Very friendly lady on reception checked me in and instantly made me feel welcome.
My room was on the 1st floor overlooking the main road at the front. Lovely big room that felt spacious. It was quite warm but being able to open the window helped a bit. Comfy bed, tea making facilities and a nice big bathroom ensured I had everything I needed.
I used the pool/spa facilities and really enjoyed them, again the staff there were very friendly and showed me how to use he lockers and where everything was. It was very relaxing and chilled out. I didn’t use the bar or restaurant but breakfast the next day was great.
As the weather was unseasonably nice, it was nice to make use of the outside space and terrace.
I’d definitely consider staying here again for a treat (I live locally)

We stayed for 9 nights, hotel is a perfect location for transportation links such as Horwich Parkway and Blackrod Railway stations as well as motorways.

Very friendly staff, food and drink reasonably priced and Irene in the sports bar was a dream! What a lovely lovely lady! She made our stay! So friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, an absolute asset to the hotel!

As well as lovely food at the hotel there are a number of options within easy reach, The Cherry Tree (very nice although pricier than others) The Brinsop (closed Monday’s and Tuesdays) and The Railway Pub.

All in all an excellent stay and would return

Arrived 745am but allowed us into the room for a £20 surcharge. Good value. We were staying 2 nights and we knew that on the morning of our departure it would be too early for breakfast. They kindly allowed us to have a breakfast on the day of check in instead . The boy on reception was definately on the "right bus"

We stayed here last weekend and our room was directly above the smoking area so the smell from the cigarettes was at times overpowering, also there was a wedding party going on and nobody bothered to intercept when two guests stood on the patio swearing and shouting at each other for over 30 minutes. The option was to close the windows in a very hot room with no air conditioning. Overall not a very comfortable stay.

This was not a good experience. Booked 2 rooms on a 2 night with dinner package. Arrived on first night to find only 1 room was showing and only one single room was available. This was after numerous emails and telephone calls to confirm booking and arrangements. I showed the receptionist (Ashley) my booking for 2 double rooms close together. One should be accessible room for my elderly parents. Manager called and was initially offered a rain damaged room that manager deemed fit. I stood my ground for an accessible room as booked. I was then offered one with manager authorisation. Rooms still on different floors and opposite parts of the hotel. Not what we had booked but nothing else was available. I accepted this grudgingly as it was now 10.00pm and we were all tired after a 3 hour drive. Both rooms were poorly maintained (missing selves, stained carpets, poor grouting) and had request towels as well!

Breakfast was a steady affair. All the usual suspects - cereals, fruit, crossiants, juices, help yourself coffee and a selection of hot fayre but no hash browns or potato dish?

Did not use pool or spa.

Dinner went from OK to bad to worse. Ordered food at bar to be told that they had run out of hummus at 8.00pm on a Wednesday night? Ordered starters and mains. They had also run out of Becks Blue and there was no other alternative. The coke draught machine as not working either. The starters came after a short wait. Nice soup and garlic bread. We waited for our mains and waited some more and dishes were not cleared either for 30 minutes. In the end I went to bar and told then our mains had not come. Barmen asked which had not come? I said all of them and he rang kitchen and told me that they would be 'fast-tracked'. I got the feeling they had forgotten about us. They arrived 10 minutes latter. Burger and chip was good. My pasta was warm on the outside and stone cold in the middle. I think it had been microwaved badly. The server noticed that I'd left my pasta and asked if everything was alright. I explained the pasta was cold. He offered to warm it and a free drink. I declined and ordered dessert - sticky pudding which was the best thing we had that night.

Check-out was quick but no real apologies offered for the booking/room issues we had encountered.

Would not recommend unless you are desperate or check booking in advance and get in writing.
