This is probably the best fish restaurant in Bolton and they have a great business. For a long time this has been the only reason for me coming to this end of town. However, the last time I was in I decided to have pudding and chips for a change. When I cut into the pudding it collapsed leaving only four tiny lumps, one of which was mushroom; it was filled with air and gravy. I brought it to the attention of the waiter who quickly replaced the whole meal. When I cut into the new pudding it also only had four tiny lumps in it. These are Hollands puddings and I would recommend they change supplier before they lose their hard earned reputation. The only blemish on many a good meal.

We visited Olympus for a good breakfast on a cold winters day and we wasn't disappointed.
Pros:

Friendly atmosphere
Warm room
Value for money
Food was fresh and hot
Food was delicious
They make an excellent brew!

I couldn't find anything to moan about. It was fantastic!

The ratings are missing one between 'Average' and 'Very Good', I would suggest, 'Good', which is how I would describe this fish and chip restaurant and take away.
I only recently started getting my occasional Friday night fish supper from here, but I am glad I returned. Fish and Chip Shops are a dying art, a few in Bolton have really let standards slide in the last few years but this place has bucked the trend, actually making great strides in improving their offering.
The cornerstone of this type of establishment, the Fish and Chips are great. The chips consistently golden, slight crunch, done to a high standard. The cod is on the small side, but, again, really well done.
Prices are a little higher than average for a chippy in Bolton but to be honest, its worth it. Pensioners get a good deal here. The kitchen looks clean and well run.
Only drawbacks are the costs mount up when adding peas, gravy, curry. A few vegetarian pies would be great news. Also peas were a little too dry on my last visit, they resorted to pouring a boiling kettle in to try rehydrate them. That is the only criticism, in many visits.

Visited this restaurant prior to seeing a show at The Octagon.
Pretty much everything you’d expect from a decent fish & chip restaurant.
Place was clean & tidy. Plenty of early evening diners. Service was excellent & attentive.
We (me & my 15 year old son) enjoyed the food/drink, and whilst not exceptional, it was was tasty, well cooked with decent portions and value for money. Just the ticket on a cold, wet, winter evening.
We’ll probably visit again next time we go to Bolton, so it definitely ticked all the right boxes.

Up visiting family this week so treated my mum to lunch, Olympus being one off my mums favourites!
Mum finds it hard to get about these days so we were very lucky to get one off the disabled parking spots straight outside, (note there’s only 3)
Greeted at the door like royalty and sat in a lovely part off the restaurant. Food was fast and service was efficient.
Had the special off steak and mushroom pie and it was fantastic! Hot and tasty in its own serving dish.
Only negative was my hot chocolate was cold, but staff was apologetic and happy to make me a fresh hot one!

Can't believe that I haven't been to this place in over 15 years. The change is remarkable.
I hear people mention that prices are high but to be honest, the decor, atmosphere and the attentive staff make up for any of that (and in fairness it's no higher prices than any other high st chain restaurant).
We had a birthday lunch for my mum today. Alli, the manager, made sure we had a relaxing time. Looked after us, even brought out our birthday cake, lit the candles and got another waiter and himself to help us sing happy birthday. We were all left to relax and not rushed.
Food was great too. I had the take and it was perfect.
We will definitely be going again.

A wonderful restaurant, good menu with very tasty chef specials, my favourite being the steak and mushroom pie ; The pie comes in it’s own individual pot , the crust is really light and melts in your mouth , the meat and mushrooms inside the pie are complimented by a rich , extremely tasty gravy , altogether a really tasty experience:
I had chips and mushy peas with my dinner and together they really were great ; I had a ground coffee with my dinner and it was really tasty , altogether a very enjoyable lunch , one that I can highly recommend , the service was Quick and professional; and when we asked for drink top ups they were quickly dispensed... I have dined here on very many occasions and have never been disappointed... the restaurant also offers a varied coach trip service from the restaurant to places of interest and even a mystery tour.. I have never been on one so cannot comment, only to say they seem very popular.. I can recommend this restaurant and takeaway for its cleanliness, and very tasty food.. I rate it a ten out of ten

Having experienced this restaurant before I was not too enthusiastic about the chips served with my battered haddock as they were rather soggy. My wife's experience with the steak & mushroom pie was much more favourable. The waiters are always attentive but the service could also have been faster with bringing the meal.
