Have stayed twice for business purposes and enjoyed my stay both times. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the beds are extremely comfy and everything very clean.
Only docking one star as on the second visit my bathroom smelt of smoke and the taps etc were falling apart

This Holiday Inn is right opposite Preston bus station and an easy walk into the centre where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. I was a bit disappointed with the room - it just feels tired and in need of some updating. The WiFi was very slow and the TV reception not good on some channels. We didn’t visit the leisure faculties so can’t comment on them but breakfast was tasty and the staff all seemed friendly and helpful.

It's hard to review a corporate hotel because you expect a high standard and it's only when you do not get this you start to notice.

In this case, everything was excellent. Staff at reception were prompt, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The room was big enough, very clean, with all the facilities I needed (and several more I didn't even touch!). The bed was comfortable, a choice of pillows (and more at reception if needed).

One plus point, the 'curtains' were wooden shutters. They were TOTALLY light-tight so I slept in a cave - brilliant! I slept like a log until the alarm rang.

Breakfast was excellent, a wide choice of continental and British foods, all fresh, all well presented (the hot food was actually hot!!) and coffee refills were no problem.

Check-out was also simple and efficient. I'd certainly stay again.

TOP TIP: The reception is on floor one and it looks like you have to lug your bags up several stairs .... not so! Just walk a few steps past the stairwell and there is a lift both to reception and to the rooms.

I had an xmas dinner and catch up with an old friend so we each had a room for the night. They have a small car park but there were plenty of spaces when we arrived. You must log your car in the touchpad in reception when you arrive. The reception was friendly and efficient and the rooms quiet with heavy curtains that blocked the light. The bar was quiet but the staff were friendly and informative. We didn't book breakfast but the room price was very reasonable. A thumbs up from me.

Stunning place with the added plus dogs on leads are allowed. Thank you Hestercombe Trust as it is a wonderful place to walk all year around for humans and their canine friends. The drawback is don't bother with the restaurant; overpriced unappealling food with indifferent service.

One of the definitive English gardens. A must for all RHS members and especially for foreign guests.

Lovely gardens and ponds. Quicky little buildings hidden around corners and along wooded tracks. Some friends of mine got married in one of them, apparently it was quite expensive but worth it if you want something small and unusual.

Hestercombe is one of my families favourite places in Taunton. My husband and I even got married there 2 years ago. I do think it is a little over priced, but if you become a member it works out much better value, especially as we go there every week. Lovely cafe and gorgeous scenery, well worth a visit, especially down to the orangery.

I had the opportunity to visit Hestercombe gardens with my daughter and young family last year. There are three centuries of hard work and vision lovingly maintained in some 50 acres.
designed by Sir Edward Lutyens a famous Edwardian architect, this is his one and only garden design. And what a triumph. The noteable features are spacious acres of natural ponds, cascades, tranquil woodland. The formal victorian terrace and shrubery, the restored 17 century water mill, the sheer blaze of colour and inventive planting in a georgian landscape. The magnificent stone walling, and steps, arches, and pergolas...I just marvelled. What a wonderful day out, and my compliments to all the dedicated staff that work for this worthy trust.
