Being a regular business person up North and being a Gold Ambassador member of IHG; I have no other choice but to stay in the Holiday Inn Preston. You cannot even upgrade as they do not have any other type of rooms available. The exterior leaves little to the imagination and the interior of the hotel provides the same feeling. It does provide a comfortable stay but it is located in a terrible location next to the main bus station and little choice for food around.

I have recently been doing the classes In the morning with Dave, he is very professional and the classes are great. The classes are convenient for work time, and I have seen an increase in my fitness.

Our son's wedding was followed by a reception at the Georgian House Hotel. The venue was beautifully decorated, the food delicious and the staff were amazing! The reception staff were welcoming, the chambermaids pleasant and chatty (sorry I don't know your names) and the breakfast staff (Julie) went above and beyond. Thank you all for contributing to the best wedding I've been to!!

For a few nights the hotel ticked all boxes. Decent quality evening meal, pool and gym.

Great engagement and from the breakfast staff (Julie/Gemma) who made early mornings bearable with porridge and a smile

Another fantastic, challenging class with Dave. Takes you out of your comfort zone and helps you improve your performance. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and not only encourages you to do more he also ensures that you are doing things correctly.

Great facilities and always a warm welcome here. It wouldn't be right for me to single out any of the staff in particular so it's a simple keep up the amazing work. Gary the manager, Simon, Kelly and Dave are the current team and we are in safe hands. The classes are good and any changes to the schedule are always well communicated.
Open until 2300 and I'd be really happy.😀

As a recent joining member of the Bolton Mercure Georgian House Hotel Health and Fitness Club I cannot praise the staff, particularly Dave, enough.
Dave will spend as much time with you as you desire or will equally leave you alone when you want to. Absolutely no pressure at all to be fully involved.
Dave is always on hand to help and advise, nothing is too much effort.
Thanks very much!

A colleague and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. He stayed outside the main building and said he felt the hotel was tired in places and his dinner was "good" rather than "great". I however stay in a *lot* of hotels and I could find pretty much nothing wrong with the Mercure, when compared to many others I've stayed in.

The hotel was clean and tidy throughout, and all of the staff I encountered were welcoming and friendly. They even found stuff I left behind in the room, and handed it to my colleague to retun to me (I left before him).

I was in the main building and the room was huge and perfect for working in the evening. Unlike in many hotels, the lighting was excellent, there was a good-sized desk/table, and the wifi worked quickly and flawlessly. If you're not a fan of squeezy-bottle soap, you might be happy to know that Mercure still provides a small bar of soap and little bottles of shampoo etc. Personally, I prefer anything that helps the environment and reduces waste, so squeezy-botles are ok by me.

I could see my room looked out onto the road, but I am a light sleeper and didn't hear any traffic noise overnight. My colleague and I also used the pool/sauna facilities and they were clean and tidy and perfectly adequate for an in-hotel facility that is free for hotel guests. (Suggestion: maybe have a bigger clock in the pool area?)

Dinner - especially the soup - was very tasty and there is a good selection of breakfast items. The breakfast was also included in the room price - unlike another hotel very near by, which wanted to charge us another £10 per night for breakfast. Luckily we discovered the extras before we booked there, and so we came to the Mercure instead.

The bar selection isn't massive, but all the usuals were there. If you do prefer to eat out, there's an excellent restaurant 5 minutes walk along the road. There are also some chain restaurants a short drive away.

So, a very nice stay, well worth 4 stars, and I would stay there again without hesitation. Thanks to all the staff, front and back-room. Well done.
