Visited on Good Friday with friends and small children (3 families total). Fantastic day was had by all, and cannot recommend it enough. I have been to a lot of family theme parks/zoos in the UK and this is one of the top experiences in my book. As everyone else has said, this is a lovely, well planned, clean zoo. The things that make it stand out for me are:
• Plentiful, free parking.
•Well laid out, easy to get around. Park is not too small, or too big. So as not to be too overwhelming for a day trip. Ideal for small children.
•Barely any queues for anything despite being busy (a major plus!!)
•Plenty of picnic seating throughout the park. Not forced to buy their food, which helps make it more affordable.
•No vending machines selling toys or games.
•Not being forced to 'exit through the gift shop' thereby being able to leave calmly without dragging overtired whining children away from rubbish they don't need!
•STAFF - everyone was polite, friendly and informative.
•The animals! Nice of selection of very well cared for animals in spacious enclosures. Visibility is great with floor to ceiling glass and viewing platforms.
•Animatronic dinosaurs! What child (young or old) doesn't love a dinosaur?!

Fab day. Hope to return.

What a gem of a zoo! My adult son and I visited here for the first time - both being regular zoo goers, and having recently been to Colchester, London, Berlin and Tier Park zoos.

This zoo has some lovely animals to view, with highlights being the snow leopard, and sun bears. The jaguars, lions and tigers are all amazing too.

We really enjoyed the viewing options. Many of the animals can be viewed both at ground level, and via raised platforms - this felt like a real standout for the zoo. There are also indoor areas, such as the reptiles and small mammal rainforest house, which were nice, albeit busy on a bank-holiday Friday!

The zoo felt well maintained, and the design throughout felt cohesive. There weren't any shabby areas - it all felt well maintained and like there has been good investment over time.

The animals were housed in large and enriching enclosures. The animals appeared happy, with no worrying behaviours observed. Loved seeing the sunbear enjoying a back scratch up a tree!

The zoo offers plenty of education about conservation and feels like a very progressive zoo. We watched the bird display, which was well choreographed.

The dinosaur park was also very good and a definite fun addition for dinosaur enthusiasts!

No real negatives at all! The car park was quite small, and I wonder what will happen if guest numbers increase? The cost was comparative to other zoos, in an ever increasing cost of living crisis. I'd love to see a separate cheaper gate price for those just wanting to visit the dinosaur park and not the zoo.

Overall - a really lovely zoo that has a lot to see in a smallish footprint. Well kept and clean, with animals that appear well cared for. Well done. I can't believe we'd not visited before, and will definitely consider another visit in the future.

Everything about today was fantastic! As it was a sunny, warm afternoon, we decided to explore somewhere new. 30 min drive was all it took before we found ourselves parking up at the zoo. It was bigger than expected with lots to see! Absolutely loved the "Lions of India" theme scattered around the place. Not many people around on a week day - but we preferred that! Had yummy delights at the Bear Cafe. Saw all the animals, especially the tiger who showed itself near the end. The place is great for families (kiddies especially), and many people brought their own picnic treats to enjoy. Another bonus is the dinosaur section, which houses life-sized dino-bots! Their were informative talks on various animals all day and a bird show exhibit. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the souvenir shop. With the theme, I was excited to get some posters of the designs or a tote bag, but all they had was a pin and giant magnet. The designs from the "Lions of India" theme, like the lion, bear etc was so beautiful - I would've loved something more from that. Alternatives were made, though! Shout out to Jade, who served us in the shop at the end/beginning - she was super friendly and helped us out! I'm definitely coming back with my professional camera!!

Lovely zoo, they have really put some hard work in and some money!
Dinosaurs are the best I have seen and my daughter loved it.

But

It's very expensive and to be charged again to go on the train is not very fair after paying 80+ for three of us to get in.

Fantastic day out! Incredibly clean, lots of benches/seating areas. Lovely little park and splash pad. Food was expensive but quite a lot of choice throughout the park. Toilets were everywhere. Thoughtful layout of the zoo itself. Staff were very friendly. Very worth the cost!

Great experience of meeting the Meerkat. On initially meeting in the Zoo HQ we had a fabulous greet from Maisie, with a brew and brief chat about the zoo history. Emily was our keeper and was absolutely excellent. She certainly knows her stuff and made us feel very comfortable and safe with the meerkats.
The zoo itself is amazing, really well planned out, engaging and the animals are well cared for in clean and spacious enclosures. We also saw the bird display which was fascinating. All in all a fabulous day. We even got to meet the famous Peter, who was checking on the tiger at the time!

Went for a birthday gift of a big cat feed, Claire was knowledgeable, polite and lovely to talk to. Feed a snow leopard, and even went back another day to feed the lion and the tiger also with Claire. All three experiences were amazing.

First visit and based on other reviews I decided to visit. This is very well cared for , from the animal enclosures and surrounding area. I felt it was more for families with younger children as there is alot to keep them entertained when not walking around to view the animals. Plenty of places to sit and eat, whether your having your own picnic or buying food on site. Having different animals from the big cats, which are my favourite, to guinea pigs was a great mixture. I had never seen a sun bear before and it was truly amazing to watch. The views are great aswell as you don't always have a view of the animals behind metal fencing so you get chance to get some great pics. I was travelling on my own and it took my about an hour to walk round the entire zoo. Worth a visit, staff are very friendly aswell which always makes a visit more pleasureable.
