Hestercombe continues to develop, new planting, new features in the gardens, great summer entertainment, fabulous cakes in the cafe. A true place for everyone, singles looking for bucolic solitude, couples wanting space to be together, families wanting to explore and learn.

Although there's acres of space I didn't think there was much for children (a tiny play park near the entrance). There's so much scope to add a few climbing areas in the woods etc. Real shame. Also hard work with buggies. An awful lot of steps to negotiate. I didn't find it value for money at all.

What a surprise finding these great gardens tucked away in the countryside so close to a large town and in easy distance of a motorway.
Despite the near drought conditions of this summer, the splendor of the gardens still shows through.
Was disappointed đ as realized there was a large section we missed by the house and orangrie as access was not allowed due to a wedding being held there. I can see what a great venue it is. But think a small reduction in entry fee could have been given, or at least a voucher for a cup of tea!
I would like to visit again but I am not sure I will as it's a bit expensive for what you get, the trail up through the woods could have been better marked and a bit more detail about the buildings dotted around there would be good.
Due to the lack of water the splendor of the waterfalls & ponds in the woods and water cources through the formal gardens had to rely on one's imagination.
All said it was still a nice place to visit if you like gardens even if you only ever go there once.

Following our visit to the superb Cannington Walled Garden on the HF Holidays Somerset & Devon Garden Tours which were led excellently by the very knowledgeable and entertaining Christine Walkden, we arrived at Hestercombe.
The gardens are magnificent and from which there are good views of the Vale of Taunton. The hard landscaping is also interesting, but you need to âwatch your feetâ to avoid tripping up, or descending into a âman madeâ rill.
We enjoyed the historical video about the property which was being shown continuously in the small Tunnel Theatre which is slightly âfurther onâ than the Orangery.
Even though we had about 3 hours at Hestercombe, my Wife and I would have preferred a âfull dayâ visit, to enable us to walk away from the formal areas, and to see the Follies, and the Gallery in the rather bland House.

My family and I came here after a lovely meal and loved it. Such a relaxing place to walk through any time of the year. Although spring/summer with all the gorgeous colours and flowers was wonderful! Great walks, views and fabulous opportunities to take photos.

Lots of places to walk round . Sunken garden looks amazing. They now have the house that is an art gallery and second hand book shop.

There is nothing bad you can say about the gardens here, superb design by GJ which will always impress. The woodland walks were as peaceful as ever with some lovely stop offs where beautiful views can be enjoyed.
My disappointment is with the house, its like they have tried very hard to fill every room with extremely uninspiring art, Im sure in time this area will develop and become more in keeping with the rest of this magnificent place.

The entrance to these gardens is very attractive and the cafe is lovely but after that I felt it goes downhill. The gardens looked scruffy and poorly maintained. The wooded walk was nice.
We had lunch here - chicken burger and chips and corned beef sandwich with salad. For some reason it wasnât corned beef but roast beef.
