We booked to meet up with our girls their partners and Grandson. The gardens and waterfall were great to walk around. We then entered the hall and into the beautifully decorated restaurant. The options for the meal were delicious, beautifully served and to sit inside whilst the weather worsened was fantastic. We would highly recommend eating here.

Beautiful park walks with a lake and stunning formal gardens. Very good restaurant. The entrance fee is on the high side for what is on offer

I had lunch at the Column Restaurant inside Hestercombe House yesterday, and wanted to post about how fab it was! Firstly, entrance to the house and gardens is half price if you book to eat in the restaurant, which was a nice surprise as I hadn't seen this advertised. The restaurant itself had lovely views across the formal garden, and though it was surprisingly quiet for Sunday lunch it had a really nice ambiance. The food was DELICIOUS. We had lovely warm home-made rolls with our starter - I had gnocchi with butternut squash and sage butter which I'm still daydreaming about today. I then went straight for the dessert course - a warm chocolate orange brownie with blood orange syrup and clotted cream, which tasted every bit as good as it sounds! The presentation was lovely and the whole meal was really good value, for the quality, at £15 each. The service was absolutely wonderful - we were served by a lovely waiter who was attentive without being intrusive and we certainly weren't hurried in any way. There wasn't any raising of eyebrows at us choosing starters and puds and not having a main, it was just friendly, helpful and we felt very welcome. Afterwards we had a wonderful gentle stroll around the gardens and grounds, which were covered in snowdrops. I can't wait to return in the spring to see the change in the garden (and have another fabulous lunch!).

The cafe does an amazing roast dinner. I do think more could be made off the main house

A beautiful setting and walk around the gardens. Even at this time of year March, plenty to see with buds starting to come through and all the daffodils showing a glow of yellow

We visit Hestercombe gardens on a regular basis as we are members so can go all year round. The gardens are beautifully maintained with formal gardens and walks around more naturalised areas. Lovely orangerie where it is possible to get married and secluded seating areas scattered around the gardens. At any time of year the gardens can be admired with short films showing to inform about the family and history. Thoroughly recommended 😃👍

Visited today (14/03) Had a lovely light lunch Cider & Onion soup - very tasty. The cafe staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. We then took a walk around the extensive grounds. The Primroses and Daffodils are beautiful and it was lovely to see the Magnolias and early Rhododendrons. The waterfalls are marvellous after all the rain. The Sun even shone for us. We were particularly looking forward to seeing the Swans and were delighted to see that there were also a pair of Canada Geese. In all good the years that we’ve been visiting we have never seen them here - wonderful. All in all, at this grim time we had a very ‘cheering’ experience.
