A great place if you enjoy woodland walks and interesting follies. There's an easier flatter route or a slightly moderate hilly climb, we'll worth the effort. When you've finished there's a nice cafe/ tea room with the usual delicious cakes and savouries and a gift shop.
We've also been to a wedding reception here. It's a wonderful venue. Allow an afternoon to really enjoy it.

We have a large dog and after reading on the website they allowed dogs we took him along for a nice walk around the gardens. Dogs are also allowed in the outdoor seating area of the cafe which is a nice touch. The house has a no dog policy but this was no issue as he was worn out and we took back to the car to chill whilst we took in the art and history placed around the building. Gardens are very well kept and are stunning to look at. We will certainly be revisiting in the future.

Lovely gardens and walks. Excellent second hand bookshop in House which houses the Gallery. Column Room afternoon tea is worth trying too.

We visited Hestercombe on a soggy Tuesday. Despite the rain, we had a lovely walk around the gardens and lakes and then had coffee (and cake!) in the tea rooms.

The grounds are well tended and my 1.5 year old grandson had a lovely time splashing in the streams and fountains! We took along one of our dogs too - dogs must be kept on leads. We took a buggy and the paths are all suitable for buggies, though there are some steps around the house and orangery which would be difficult to navigate on your own.

It was very busy on the day we went as there are organised activities for children on a Tuesday during the school holidays. It looked to be well attended. There was a BBQ on offer too. There was plenty of benches etc for picnics too.

There is a small gift shop and plant shop, both selling a good range of items. There is also a beauty salon on site.

The coffee shop was very good and had an excellent range of sandwiches, quiche, salads, etc. for lunch and loads of cakes - including many gluten free varieties.

A small children's play ground is near the coffee shop too, aimed at younger children, so perfect for my grandson.

We did not visit the house and gallery. We shall save that for another day.

The history of the renovation for this house and grounds was fascinating to see but it only took up one room in the grand house which looked beautiful from the outside. Only one room in the house had any relevant information to the land, I saw no point of the contemporary art which was spread across several bare rooms. The enthusiasm of the volunteers in the house was endearing. The dogs enjoyed their walk around the gardens. Very expensive visit but I suppose if renovations need to be done they need to be paid for somehow!

Lovely welcome at reception and useful information given about our visit. Beautiful gardens. Very well tended and laid out. Loved winding our way around the various pathways in the gardens. Plenty to do during your visit. Had lunch in the cafe. Lots of choice and reasonably priced. Seating inside and out. Great service. Interesting exhibition about the history of the property in the house. Would love to see the rooms in their original state. Beautiful shop with lots of lovely gifts. The plants being sold there were of a very high quality and very tempting. Really enjoyed our visit.
