Not enough staff serving at the bar. Even at the price of £6:30 a pint you won't make any money if you don't sell it fast enough. 1 person serving when bar is rammers it only needs 1 order of shots for posers, and you will never catch up. Even worse when staff can't work till and wifi for cards is bobbins.

We stayed for a night in the hotel in an executive room (I believe it is the most expensive one). The hotel is very huge and has a lot of rooms in a variety of standards. The whole structure is not modern and it has kept it's historical value. There were two things which we didn't expect at all for a hotel in this level which has led me to give the above score. First, considering the type of room we paid for, it didn't have WiFi in practice. The coverage was the poorest I have ever seen and literally useless and very unstable. I don't know how difficult would be to install a few APs here and there to resolve the coverage issue! Second, the noise in the room. I am not talking about the noise coming from other rooms. There was a pretty much constant noise from pipes and perhaps bathroom fan which was very annoying and you could hear it easily in daylight (at night it was worse). I don't want to mention the issue with thermostatic valve in the bathroom which couldn't get adjusted and we had to shower with a very hot uncomfortable water temperature.
We also tried the spa facilities. Generally, it was pretty much standard but was quite busy and it didn't feel that there was any instructions for how to use the pool (we didn't expect to see people teaching kids how to swim in such a small pool). Also there was no jacuzzi.
The breakfast was in buffet style and a fairly standard one. However, we didn't feel that pastries got refilled so some people didn't see them at all!
The service was good in general but we felt that some staff were not approachable and in some areas, staff were not trained to standards you would expect in such hotels
Other than the above issues we faced, the hotel has beautiful surrounding gardens and fields and everything else you would expect from a hotel at this level.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend the hotel and I think it doesn't pay off what you pay for.
