As an architect I know that the replacement window & door marketplace is a rather crowded environment. With some regrettable exceptions the overall quality of the actual ‘product’ could be considered similar; details, features and delivery of service are obvious variations of course.
Even for a professional an excursion into this marketplace can be a little trepidatious. So what makes a company stand out from the crowd? Let me tell you…
Trusted recommendation and inspection of the installations was our starting point followed by an initial meeting with, George.
That was the beginning of what can only be described as a most remarkable experience.
George was prompt, courteous, professional and above all knowledgeable. The installation was for my mother-in-law and George understood instinctively both her immediate needs and her anxieties, taking the time and care to ensure that both were addressed to her satisfaction.
The works were commenced well within the initial timescale discussed, in fact well ahead of schedule. Another huge ‘thumb up’ for GM Windows & Doors as I know from bitter experience that the contrary is often the case!
I was on site for the installation and I can only describe the installation team of Dec and Taz (excuse the spelling!) as exemplary. To observe them working was a pleasure. They were disciplined, methodical, polite and courteous. When asked questions by myself or my mother-in-law they exhibited a broad knowledge and answered with confidence and patience. Operating in seamless unison the installation was completed to a superbly high standard. It is no surprise to learn that George operates a formidable apprenticeship and is a stickler for detail.
It is obvious that George is proud of his family heritage in the industry and continues to strive for perfection and quality while remaining extremely good value for money. He has a strong ethos and upholds enviable brand values; every customer touchpoint certainly confirms this. I can only say that this is remarkably refreshing and gratifying to experience first-hand.
Was our experience a good one? Yes, obviously.
Would we recommend GM Windows & Doors? Without a moments hesitation!
Should you use them? ABSOLUTELY!

Located in a charming suburb of Bolton, The Last Drop Village Hotel is ideally situated with a selection of lovely nearby restaurants. Arriving at the hotel through the main gate, I was struck by the appealing exterior and the historic charm that really sets it apart.
The check-in experience was pleasant, thanks to the friendly receptionist, and the reception area had a warm, welcoming feel, as did the bar. I decided to try the food from the bar menu, and it did not disappoint—the chicken wings and burger were both fantastic, well-priced, and perfectly cooked.
However, my stay took a downturn when I got to my room. I had room 306, a superior room, but sadly it was a huge disappointment. The room was in a poor state of repair and in need of urgent refurbishment. Despite the generous space, it didn’t feel clean, with visible stains on the tables and a welcome tray that looked cheap and didn’t even fit the table properly. The bathroom was also dated, although the ESPA toiletries were a nice touch. While there was a large TV on the wall, its placement was odd—not aligned with the bed or the seating area—making it difficult to enjoy a comfortable viewing experience.
The hotel’s spa has great potential and initially looked impressive. Unfortunately, during my visit, it wasn’t fully operational, and from speaking with members, this seems to be a frequent issue. The steam room wasn’t producing any steam and was quite cold, while the sauna was below 60°C, which limited its effectiveness. The small infinity pool was nice in design, but it overlooked the kitchens of the new Sanctuary houses, which took away from the intended relaxing ambiance.
In summary, The Last Drop Village Hotel has a lot of potential, with a unique location, a lovely bar, and fantastic food. However, the rooms are in need of a modernisation, and the spa facilities could benefit from regular maintenance and thoughtful improvements. With some investment in these areas, the hotel would be much more appealing, and I’d be more inclined to return in the future.

The room has black marks all over the floor and the lock doesn’t work on the bathroom door. I think the rooms on the first floor maybe aren’t as nice. They’ve also removed the fussball table for health and safety reasons which my kids loved playing. The people working at the Starbucks are pleasant but in general our experience the previous couple of weeks was a lot more pleasant. Hopefully this is just a blip.

Everything was managed very efficiently.Communication was particularly good estimates ,work schedule,invoices etc were clear and easy to understand .All the workforce were very pleasant knowledgeable and skilful. On completion the are was left clean and tidy all the old windows were removed.I would highly recommend his company .
