We had a lovely stay here last December and decided to stay again whilst visiting family in the area This stay was disappointing.
Prior to going we had received an offer to have a 2 course meal for £25 in their restaurant which we took up for one night. We got confirmation that it had been approved but no further details.

Check in - We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and pointed out the meal deal. As we couldn't see the screen we didn't know if it was showing up. He said he would ask someone then returned and said everything was fine. Prior to going to dinner we remembered that we needed to register a card at reception and were surprised we hadn't been asked to do this on arrival. We then went to the restaurant to be told that we had to pay for the special meal at reception as it couldn't be done in the restaurant. We were less than pleased having been to reception only minutes earlier and asked about this meal on arrival. Sara in the restaurant said that she would get someone from reception to come down with the machine. Obviously they wouldn't because she had to go and get it. Sara explained what should have happened. If Accord is going to make offers then it should inform its hotels so that staff can be trained in what to do. Sara as ever was the consummate professional. As well as the 'pub grub' menu there was also a chef's special menu. We had the pork belly which was delicious. The breakfast was buffet service with the usual choices and was very good though the food could be hotter.

Room 406 - This was in the elite section and the same type of room we had last time but on the ground floor. I had a lukewarm shower that evening and my husband's was even colder which we put down to everyone wanting one at the same time. Shortly after finishing our showers there was the most awful noise which we originally thought was the fan in the bathroom. It went on for quite some time before stopping. The next morning there was no hot water in the shower but there was in the sink so has to have a stand up wash. Not ideal. The noise returned and it was even louder in the corridor. We eventually put it down to the shower pump. We should have asked to change rooms but after unpacking and only being there for 2 nights we just couldn't face it. However I cannot believe that a member of staff had not heard the racket in that corridor.
I have given it 3 stars because the food was very good, the staff very friendly and because Sara handled our situation in the restaurant supremely well and also because we didn't complain.

My daughter and I had booked a spa day including treatments, use of the spa and afternoon tea.
Positives: friendly staff, afternoon tea was quite nice apart from a tasteless scotch egg and squrty cream for the scones. I think we were given a complimentary glass of prosecco.
Liked the steam rooms and sauna
Negatives: I didnt get the treatments that I booked. We were advised at arrival that they were short staffed as someone had had an accident on the way to work, they would rearrange my treatments for later in the morning. Understandable, I was fine with this. My daughter had no problems with her treatments. When I went for mine I told the spa therapist 3 times that I was booked for a back massage and facial, I also confimed my full name. She seemed confused and didn't know the layout of the room or which towel or sheet I should lie on. She then gave me what I believe was a marine scrub back treatment and did something with my feet. I was hoping the back massage would start when she told me the treatment was finished.
I asked about the facial and asked her to double check my treatment because she seemed confused. She said I would need to come back an hour and a half later for that. I went to the main desk to explain that the treatment was not what I expected, but I was told this was because of the staff shortage, he didn't really listen to what I was telling him.
When I went back later on, it was the same therapist. I showed her the spa packoge from the website and the treatments I had booked. She looked very confused, another member of staff came over and I explained. I said I had really wanted the back massage, please could I have this instead of the facial. It was agreed she would that she would do a back massage.
I have had many massages before, and this wasn't a massage this was rubbing oil on my back for 20 minutes. I asked for a bit more pressure, but this continued.
The showers in the changing room had big clumps of hair in the drain.
There weren't enough loungers.
The jacuzzi was cool and a bit feeble

Calm and perfect for work. After staying here a couple of times I now like to use to bar area when passing.

I've held meetings here and worked solo as the place is so tranquil in the day time.

Staff are always great and helpful. My one niggle would be that there's not always somebody ready to serve in the bar in the afternoon and I had to revisit reception to ask

The rooms are very very dated, we were "upgraded" to an executive room (we appreciated this thank you) but it was very dated, the bathroom was rather dirty and we could close the bathroom door because the handle was coming away from the actual door. You can hear everything in the hallway so when people were leaving or going back to their rooms it was obscenely loud. We were also the other side from the resturant and heading over to breakfast we had to cut through a conference that was happening which was amusing but also a nightmare to navigate (I'd probably also point out people from the conference didn't just stay in the conference room / where the food was put out but also all out the front of the hotel and all out the back in the tabled courtyard area - I'd probably suggest maybe people were given areas they could utilise and not wherever they fancied)
The breakfast was a 5/10 - nothing special. We went quite early and everything was luke warm and a bit lack luster
Dinner the night before was okay, the menu is small but the food was quite tasty. The service left room to be desired - I found the main lady who was seating people to be rude and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder (could have just been a bad day)
The spa portion - if that's what your going for isn't very good. The pool is so/so - the jacuzzi jet area is just cold and part of the pool and nothing to write home about. The sauna / steam room area felt dull and in need of a make over. If your looking for a spa escape there are much much much better places out there
There was a lady on the desk (I'm so sorry I don't remember your name - glasses, short black bob .. maybe Chuti) she was so friendly, so lovely! she is fantastic at her job and deserves recognition!

We stopped over here on our way back from our elopement at Gretna Green and they went above and beyond and made everything perfect. The had gone to the effort of decorating our room and delivering us a beautiful afternoon tea. A massive thank you from us Phil & Lorraine

I needed a place to escape to, whilst having the builders in at home, and have just returned from a 3 night stay. When booking l mentioned that l had Parkinson's, and sometimes have poor mobility. So it was suggested l had a room in the Courtyard, as I'd be very close to all l needed. The room was perfect, as was the food in the restaurant. However what was exceptional about this hotel was that every single member of staff, that I came into contact with, were so genuinely nice. Special message must go to Charlie, who ensured my visits to the spa were so enjoyable and stress-free. My body decided l was going to shuffle when it was time to leave. Charlie's kindness and patience with me were much appreciated. Whilst there l had two treatments in the very Zen-like spa, both given by Sarah. So skilled at what she does, I had to explain at one point why l started blubbing,,,it was the first time in 20 years that my body felt totally pain free. All thanks to her undoubted skills as a professional therapist.
Finally l must mention the person who enured my stay was so perfect, Aziz. You sir are a credit to the hospitality industry, and especially your hotel. Thank you so much for ensuring my stay with you was so perfect.
As soon as l know when the decorators are due to start work on my cottage, l'll be booking my next escape with you.
