Its a lovely old Grade II listed building set in its own grounds and so very popular for parties and weddings.
We have been going for many years and the service is very good. The staff turnover is low which makes us feel more welcome as we see the same faces. The new chef has made a huge difference to the dining experience, with locally sourced produce - very good quality and we absolutely loved the Steak Ciabatta for lunch.
Thank you for looking after us so well!

Brilliant hotel, no complaints whatsoever… although a map on arrival would have been handy as it’s like a maze!

Room was lovely, beds comfy and generally nice and clean, pool with my daughter was canny but designated times for children. Breakfast nice too and staff were all very pleasant

Lovely hotel with loads of character. Room was spacious and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special - not much better than a Premier Inn, and the corridors really could do with a lick of paint - they look like they were last decorated in the ‘80s. And why charge for using the pool - I’ve stayed in numerous hotels with pools over the years and this is the first one which levied a charge? Fortunately we were staying for a few days and could make good use of it (it costs the same however many times you go).

And yes, if mobility is an issue, make sure you get a room near reception - ours was a significant distance away down seemingly endless corridors.

On our arrival the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which they all were throughout our stay. Our room was an disabled accessible one and very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent, we only had one evening meal in the hotel but it was superb my wife had a sirloin steak which she said was veryvery good and I had a pea rissotto we was excellent. for dessert we had creme brulee which also excellent. The only complaint we had was it was difficult to navigate through some of the doors with a wheelchair.

We enjoyed our short stay at the hotel. Though certainly an old building, it felt to be steeped in history and had many features that made it look grand and stately.
The room was comfortable - furniture in keeping with the age of the building - was good enough to sleep in. Decent food and breakfasts

Big shout out for Liam at the Bar - super helpful and friendly to all the people he served! - He typified the cheerfulness of the staff we encountered and I would recommend a stay there. Value for money

The spa treatment a facial and back massage was absolutely amazing, so calming and really helped me with my stress. Had the lovely Annika who was so so sweet and bubbly, and recommended the products that could help me out with my skin, thank you for an amazing experience x

Reception staff member was absolutely lovely upon arrival, the building is fabulous too. And free parking!

However, the windows in our courtyard room were so drafty even when closed a cold breeze came in all night, but more importantly the bathroom door handle is faulty and I was locked in the bathroom!! I understand these things happen but it took over 20 minutes for someone to arrived with a screwdriver.. it was really stressful. The rooms are lovely but definitely need some maintenance.

Easy to find traveling from the north, nice check in and lovely room .
Bar was very expensive and food not cheap either. Henry behind the bar wasn't very clean , his shirt was ripped under his arm and stains on the front not good when serving food and drink .
Food was being delivered from the kitchen and no one was sure who had ordered, was a bit like faulty towers , staff running around with trays of food .
Breakfast was a bit disappointing aswell, for the price it wasn't that good , only 5 warm items for full English and continental wasn't much better only offering around 3 to 4 items . Staff on Breakfast were very nice and chamber maids nice , overall was a nice stay but a bit over priced for what you get .

Very comfortable family room, recently refurbished. Comfortable beds. Bathroom with shower and bath.

Welcoming helpful staff in reception, bar/lounge and housekeeping.

Excellent meal in Bar/Lounge. Served on hot plates - always a plus.

Room and meal represented good value for money.

Would definitley recommend and stay again.

Only minor draw back long walk from reception and other facilities to family rooms but baggage carts available.
