I have stayed in the hotel a number of times for work, before my booking was moved to the Legacy. If you see my review of the Legacy, you will know why I am delighted to be back at the Holiday Inn! The hotel is not without it's problems - the carpark is far too small so people choose to park on double-yellow lines or to double-park rather than park in the pay-and-display carpark which is only about 5 minutes away. The TV in my room initially didn't work, but they sent someone up immediately to sort it out. Problems happen, but it is how staff deal with them that is the important thing, and all the staff here are brilliant, solving problems (or trying to) with a smile. The girls on reception are always charming, friendly and helpful even when faced with grumpy customers asking what has happened to the newsapers (I stayed 2 nights and they had problems with the papers both days). I hadn't stayed at the hotel for 4 months but the staff (both at reception and in the restaurant) welcomed me back like an old friend, which was lovely! The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, breakfast is great and it is only around a 5-10 minute walk into town. I look forward to my next visit!

Myself and my husband decided to spend valentines weekend in Preston. After looking online we decided on the Holiday inn as it seemed fairly central to the town. I cant remember how much exactly we paid but i think it was 60 something GBP. this included breakfast.
Upon arriving, i must admit from the outside i wasnt expecting much, we were met at the front desk by a very friendly and helpful receptionist, and, getting our key we went to the room.
The room was spotless, the bathroom, though small, was completely adequate and contained plenty of nicknacks and loads of towels. the room was fine, not huge but we were delighted with it for such a good price, plenty of sky tv stations on a flat screen monitor, a fridge, gret tea and coffee making facilities with a great range of biscuits.
Even if i wanted to i couldnt find a thing wrong with it.
Its right across the road from the bus station which would be handy for anyone travelling that way.
We didnt eat in the hotel but i could recommend anyone looking for somewhere nice to eat should try Tinos, its not far from the hotel on hill street. Its a fantastic italian, though it does other dishes as well. Definately one of the best meals ive had in a long time and the staff were superb, great wine selection too!!
The next morning we went down to get breakfast and there was a great selection and all of it very tasty.
Definately a good and reasonable, friendly hotel to recommend

Great location and great people. As with everything in life people are everything and I have always found the team at this hotel to be exceptional in the way they look after you and ensure that everything is looked after in a suitable and obliging fashion, I look forward to many more stays at this lovely hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights and would happily have stayed longer if circumstances allowed. The room was a decent size with a decent bathroom and the beds were as comfortable as any Ive ever slept in. Ample parking and good location although allow a little longer if leaving in the rush hour as the A6 road serving the hotel got heavily congested for the morning peak. The Service in the restaurant was disappointingly slow on our first evening and we ate out for the remainder of our stay but other than that we had no complaints.i

The hotel had one of the best beds I'd ever slept in.The room was adequate for a single person. The WiFi just worked band was very strong. Customer service was friendly but not too fussy. The room came with an iron which was very useful. The only issue was that the bathroom floor was slightly dirty.

Upon arriving at the hotel I was very surprised to something that looked more like a stately home rather then a hotel. The exterior and interior are both full of character- one of the prettiest hotels I've stayed at.
We stayed in one of the family rooms: 1 double bed, 2 single beds and a sofa (which I assume could also be another bed). This was very refreshing as most family rooms only have a double bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom was very spacious and the shower was very easy to use (if you have very young children I would recommend asking for a bath mat from reception as the room didn't have one). Finally the room have lots of space for a pushchair without it getting in the way (there was a small section separating the main room and bathroom were a pushchair could stay). The only issue with the room was the noise, the walls seemed very thin as we could hear the people next door turning on light switches and closing doors.

Everything was fine except when having the meal the final course wasn't available as "the kitchen has closed" this wasn't late, just after 10 and I was making for the strawberry Eton mess so no cooking involved, very disappointing.

Booked an evening meal as on first impressions it looked a stylish venue. The small cod cakes were delicious and were perhaps the highlight of the meals. The rib-eye steak and lamb were ok although the steak was not very warm. The sticky toffee pudding was ok but the Eton Mess was better.
A little disappointing as this place could be so much better. Service was good. Not busy for a Friday Evening- does that itself tell a story? Very ordinary.

With the hotel being named Georgian house, one would expect it to be Georgian. Well I believe that parts of it are, with a later extension circa 1980's. The sad thing is that the extension isn't in keeping with the Georgian parts.and can look rather tired in parts, that said, it does indeed contain a spa.
I did not stay in the Georgian part and on my next visit will probably opt to say there.

When it comes to bathrooms, it's never a good look to have bath silicone which is uneven or repointed over failed silicone. It never works and puts the bathroom on a downer for both the cleaners and the guests.
Attention should also be paid to the showers to ensure they are fully functional and free of limescale.

The breakfast is the usual running buffet style with the usual full english on offer, served by efficient and attentive staff.

So if you are looking for a hotel in the vicinity of the Macron Stadium, then this is reasonably priced and may fit the bill.
