Excellent inexpensive day out for all the family. Covered the science centre, observatory and castle and grounds on one ticket. Plenty of free parking and some lovely walks around the grounds. Fine for a day out with a picnic or making the most of what's on offer. Cafes on site at both the science centre and castle. Sensibly priced and good selection. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very wheelchair friendly. One down side was that the castle tour was not available on the day. It does not state this on the website and seems to be a common comment where you only find out on the day. Most reasons for this is weddings. These are booked far in advance enough for them to post a note on the website saying certain dates are not available. Quite a few disappointed people on the day. However it did not spoil the day.

As is so often the case, you visit far-flung places but often don't get around to visiting those interesting places that are nearby, right on your doorstep. Living just a few miles from this historic place, we decided it was time we paid a visit. We certainly weren't disappointed. What a beautiful place - from the stunning, moated exterior to the amazing gardens and the breathtaking interior. We'll definitely be back in the summertime.

This is a great place to visit. Gardens are lovely. Has cafe and small shop. We took our dog as they are 🐕 friendly for gardens only not castle.
