We went for a few nights away, I was on crutches which I told the hotel in advance they gave us a downstairs room which I thought was fab till we got there. We were on the opposite side of the building to the facilities (spa, restaurant/bar etc) so I really did struggle to wander to breakfast/evening meal and back. I was guest of the day which was a surprise! We got some snacks and 2 free drinks. :) The room itself was fab though, very quiet We were surprised as we were near the function room but we couldn't hear anything. I was unable to use the spa/swimming pool due to the injury but my partner said it looked good. Service at the restaurant was very hit and miss. We got served by a young gentleman in the first evening who was very unhelpful I asked what fruit ciders he did and he told me they just do magners so that's what I had for my free drink (I don't like normal cider but I thought hey its free) and he just generally didn't appear to want to be there. - to find out the following night when we asked Olivia (best member of staff in the restaurant!) That actually they do indeed do fruit ciders and so I had one of them. Olivia answered all our questions and was very polite throughout. The only issue with the restaurant was there were loads of flies and it was quite off-putting when eating but the food itself was fab and worth the price!

Bar from that overall was a good stay. Would I go back probably not we just expected service to be a little bit better.

Took a punt on a Travel Zoo deal … no regrets. Secured a very nice Premium ground floor room overlooking an inner grassy area with tables, chairs and sunshades for coffee drinkers chilling out. The room had all mod cons with a luxury bathroom/walk-in shower, good wall tv, tea facilities+coffee maker, white robes/slippers + iron/board provided …all well-serviced by Alison. We had no problems with room temp or ventilation, slept well, and electronic key entry was trouble-free … as was wi-fi.
We had free daily use of spa pool with jacuzzi annex … a free gym was available too … steam room was being renovated and we noticed aircon ventilation in men’s changing needed fixing … Staff in dining room were v.friendly and on the ball … breakfasts were of a good standard and served hot by staff from a buffet selection … full English usual selection + black pudding.
We daily booked an evening dining slot … staff (inc Shailesh) were all excellent, attentive when you wanted them to be, friendly and meals arrived pretty promptly, hot and to a good standard over the 4 days. Enjoyed the chicken supreme and the salmon in particular.
This was an enjoyable v. relaxing stay in an old family seat with character … where we explored the River Ribble valley scenery, the bleak moorland of Pendle Hill and history of infamous witch-trials + the cotton mill weaving industrial revolution well illustrated in the local Blackburn museum. The market town and castle in Clitheroe was also worth a wander with pleasant views.

Stayed for 2 nights and was really looking forward to the visit. Arrived Friday and weather was lovely so had a few drinks outside. Walking passed the restaurant realised there was no need to get changed as they used to have a 'no jeans' policy, but anything is OK now. Saturday, we relaxed in the spa area. If you would like to eat in the spa/cafe area food has to be pre-ordered at least the day before. Only offer afternoon tea. We could order food but would need to get dressed to eat in the restaurant. Have stayed at a few spa hotels all better than this one.

pros room excellent very clean good housekeeping Restaurant food was very nice service was excellent Olivia our waitress was pleasant and very courteous. On knowing it was hubbys 70th got him a lovely sweet with happy birthday on it . Made us feel welcome.
cons
was a prom night on the Friday so very noisy teenagers and glass tumblers left on the grass. to get to our room we had to go thru a room that they were using to drink not suitable.
leisure centre worst I have used didn't feel welcome as a guest no lockers to put any valuables wasn't told no lockers no ladies changing room this was a bedroom up a flight of stairs unsuitable because of my mobility and the bathroom in the room floor soaking and wet towels yet plenty staff hanging around thought someone should have been checking this. no thermal suite. Saying that they did make the only latte coffee I could get as machine wasn't working in the hotel.

We had a fabulous weekend here, beautiful old house with lots of history. Lots of paranormal activity and lots of beautiful paintings.

The room was comfortable and the bed was clean and comfy.

Breakfast and eve meal was great and the staff work tirelessly to make their guests happy.

The only thing that let it down was the fire alarm went of 5 times at different times of the day/night so it needs looking at.

Parking was free for guests despite it saying there is a charge and there are plenty of spaces

All in all fabulous weekend thank you

All the staff were very good. There was an exception who we found to be so friendly & helpful, Head Water Chris G was outstanding, a wonderful character.
We also found waitress Anelyn was helpful & always smiling. Both are a credit to the hotel.

Good quality room. Clean facilities. Good size TV. Excellent shower. Hotel expansive along with the grounds. Dining experience was good although our deal menu was a bit limited but what was served up was good quality and wonderfully served up by Shailesh and the lovely Rebecca. 5 stars to both of them.

Towels a bit shabby, room was clean, bed not great. Food was basic and over priced. Staff were very nice. Walk through Bar near rooms was a bit stale smelling. No shower caps, what? No face cloths, what's that about?

The bed was very uncomfortable.
The hotel was fully booked Italian football team were staying there, it had added security, this made me feel safe anyway!

My husband and I got married here 11 years ago. We came back to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel restaurant went above and beyond to help make it special, from decorating our table (thank you Olivia), to checking in with us regulary (Resh) and a lovely desert (Sara). Thank you all. The lovely lady in the hotel bar made me a lovely strawberry daiquiri too.
