Great location, near Bolton Wanderers' ground. Ideal for Manchester city centre, Wigan and Bolton.
I've been to several special events there - weddings and a Christmas evening - all thoroughly recommended.
The staff are really helpful, especially Irene behind the bar. The food is wonderful, you won't be disappointed.
The gym and swimming pool are also wonderful - the leisure staff will look after you, especially Dave.

Great hotel. Really welcoming staff fantastic amenities. Had a personal training session when I was there with a guy called David Ryan. Cannot recommend highly enough. All the staff were really friendly but David was great. Really put me through my paces.

The staff (Julie) and Kitchen staff have went beyond the call of duty, as they open the breakfast room each morning , each week 15 minutes early in order to make sure i get full english breakfast as they have got to know me & my work. Therefore is the open at the correct time of 6.30am i would either be late for open our work / premise or i would be required to go without a breakfast.

Well done the Mercure breakfast team

Having stopped in a Holiday Inn before we knew what to expect. This particular hotel was ok although the room we had was very small and was tired. Staff reasonably friendly although receptionist did not ask if everything was ok with our stay which is usually asked when checking out. We did not book breakfast however, having seen the menu in the lift we decided to ask in the morning if we could purchase a sausage sandwich. This seemed to be a big ask. We were left stood there for a good 5 minutes whilst a member of staff decided to check if this was ok. He never returned. 2 more members of staff asked if they could help and we explained that we just wanted a sandwich which both replied that this shouldn't be a problem. Obviously it was and having been left there, we decided in the end to walk away and find breakfast elsewhere. I understand that we would have paid a cheaper price to the normal £12-13 that we would have had to pay if we had pre-booked. We just would have appreciated a yes or no instead of being left there. Other than this, the stay was ok but would choose alternative accommodation next time in Preston before we looked here again.

Not much to look at this well located Holiday Inn offers a snug overnight refuge to break your journeys. Comfortable rooms on the fringe of the town centre so plenty of choice of food and drink. Great breakfast choice too.

Comfortable enough, not much about a Holiday Inn Express in my opinion.

Good shutters to keep out the light. Bed and pillows ok, interesting view out over industrial preston. Not much parking out the front, and difficult to find the entrance as it's located on a big road junction.

The room was average, but clean enough. The breakfast was disappointing.
I did ask for the IHG Loyalty card and after filling in all the forms, still not heard anything 6 weeks later?
Guess they don't want my business any more, but I would not want to stay here again anyway!

Realised that we regularly stay on business and use conference facilities and have not written review. Yes, it's not a pretty exterior and is not in a great location but beds are comfortable and breakfast and lunch are very good! Staff are helpful and friendly and I've never been in such clean toilets! So, well done to staff who make a miserable building come to life and provide what is expected!

Being a regular business person up North and being a Gold Ambassador member of IHG; I have no other choice but to stay in the Holiday Inn Preston. You cannot even upgrade as they do not have any other type of rooms available. The exterior leaves little to the imagination and the interior of the hotel provides the same feeling. It does provide a comfortable stay but it is located in a terrible location next to the main bus station and little choice for food around.
