Good location if you arrive by car or bus - it's a bit of a hike from the railway station. Good cheeck in, fast and easy and staff pleasant and welcoming. Room was of a good size and the sliding wooden window shutters are a novel idea and effective. Room clean along with the bathroom. Ample storage space but no iron or ironing board, bit of a fag to ask every time yu need it, but am sure that it would not be a problem. The room was very quiet, no noise from outside or adjoining rooms.

Dining room pleasant along with the staff but the meals are expensive and generally small portions. Would suggest eating as the top of the main street is not to far. Breakfast is much better with a good selection of food, presented as buffet style. Staff attentive and observant and make sure you are looked after. Generally good quality food such as bread, orange juice and the local yoghurts are wonderful. Top marks for breaskfast.

Check out easy and staff check if you need any assistance for your onward journey and ask in a way that shows they do want to help, rather than it being part of the check our script. Overall the bedrooms, staff and breaksfast are the things which score the hotel highly.

If you overlook the fact that from the outside this hotel looks a bit like a Soviet office block it's not a bad place to spend a no frills night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant has a faint look of a 70's motorway service station but the food was surprisingly good, and the service prompt, efficient and friendly. My bedroom was quite small compared to a Premier Inn, as was the bathroom, but it did the job. I tried the Holiday Inn to compare with my default choice of a Premier Inn. On balance, I would opt for a Premier Inn, but that is not to say this Holiday Inn was a disappointment.

This hotel is one of the bleakest, most miserable places I've stayed for a long time. The hotel is functional enough and provides all the services that guests require it just lacks any sort of ambience or sense of welcome. Extremely dim lighting in all areas of the building is part of the problem. It's as though they're running things off an emergency generator and is just creates a miserable atmosphere. The hotel's location is also thoroughly depressing - next to the bus station and the whole area surrounding the hotel is in need of redevelopment. The area outside the hotel is also very badly lit which adds to the whole melancholy experience. A couple of taxi drivers told me to be careful outside the hotel after dark and the area is frequented by unsavoury types. I didn't experience any problems myself in this regard but I can imaging some people, especially lady guests on their own might find the area a bit uncomfortable. I booked a double room and got two twin beds shoved together. Had one of those folding suitcase stands but there was literally nowhere to stand it. Bar area was depressing. Only used the restaurant for breakfast which was okay. Never received the complimentary newspapers that I ordered. Only one member on the desk during check out in the morning and she looked thorough miserable. She apologised for the wait but her tone and lack of smile or any sort of eye contact suggested she was running on auto pilot and totally brassed off. The hotel does the job in terms of roof over you head and bed for the night but I won't hurry back. Unfortunately Preston is not exactly blessed with a great choice of places to stay.

We snapped up a bargain to stay here at over 50% off and it was excellent, it meant we had to put up with a twin bed room but we were only stopping for one night and out visiting friends the whole time. The hotel is convenient to get to, right in the city centre. We were on the 7th floor so had excellent views of the city and Lancashire countryside beyond (despite the rain!).

Only downside is the tiny car park, but if you ask at reception you can buy 24-hour parking in the Bus Station car park for £4 (bargain!). Room was very clean, TV was good and has everything you need. We didn't have breakfast included and didn't eat at the bar. Ordered some drinks on room service and they were efficient.

If you're on a short stop over in Preston then Holiday Inn is a safe bet.

My husband and I enjoyed an afternoon tea here. We were sat in a nice quiet area and had a filling tea. We asked for more sandwiches and another drink each and it was not too much trouble for Irene who was the lovely lady serving the food. (Apparently people may just pop in for coffee anytime). We had a really relaxing afternoon with excellent service. Thank you.

Just got back from spending the weekend in this hotel for a wedding reception the rooms are very spacious but are very hot with no air con or fans in the room so it was impossible to sleep because of the heat even with the window wide open

I stayed here as it was close to a meeting I was attending and it seemed reasonably priced for its range of facilities. This is an older style of hotel that has been extended over the years but suffers from the same flaws as many of its type, noisy and in need of a re-vamp. The first room had a constant drone of a ventilation system and suffered from noise from above, I swapped to a top floor room on front of the back extension which was much better. Average sized single room with average facilities. Quite nice leisure facilities, Sauna in each changing room which is unusual for UK. reasonable breakfast. You get what you pay for given that it was cheaper than the Premier Inn.

Stayed for 10 days we found the staff friendly and helpful.
There was a few issues with our accommodation but they were fixed immediately.
I was a bit annoyed I was ignored by a staff member last Sunday because he was busy texting on his phone to even acknowledge us all I wanted was a coffee, but this was 1 person everyone else was great.
I would stay again.
