The hotel is old and very dated. We had to change from our first family room ( of which there are only 5 on the ground floor) Lewis was extremely helpful and found us another room. When you boiled the kettle the electrics tripped and we can to reset after each cuppa.

The Spa and pool area changin facilities were in a really bad state of repair. They are obviously cleaned by the current staff but need ripping out and replacing.

The staff in all areas, reception, Pool, and Breakfast wer extremely friendly and helpful and without them this would have been a rating of 1.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel which we last visited some years ago. On this occasion we were part of a large family group. At the same time the hotel also had to cope with a large wedding party. For the greater part they managed everything satisfactorily although some of the bookings were confused and I was told we had only booked for one night when I had a confirmatory email for two nights. We were not asked if we wanted newspapers delivered in the morning.

Our bedroom was small and had the usual one upright chair. It would have benefited from a walk-in shower rather than the awkward bath/shower combination. But the bed was comfortable and the heating efficient.

Food was good quality and well presented. Despite the numbers in the family party they coped very well and the waiters worked hard to keep everyone satisfied.

Friendly helpful staff. We received a complimentary upgrade to a stylishly refurbished suite. Plenty of free on site parking. Very competitively priced. A few signs of wear and tear in some communal areas but generally very good. We enjoyed a pleasant meal in the restaurant . We will return if was come back to the area.

This hotel itself is great, we stayed for one evening for our company Christmas party and enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities and had a nice meal in the lounge bar. The party night itself was great, however the food was very disappointing, barely warm tomato soup was followed by a main course which consisted of three potatoes, four spouts and a sliver of turkey, which resembled a microwave meal for one, the only saving grace was the cheesecake desert which was nice. We had been considering the hotel for our forthcoming wedding, however having been served a below par meal we have swiftly struck it off our list as a possible option.

We stayed for 3 nights, Friday to Monday. The hotel itself is quite tired in appearance, it definitely needs a fresh lick of paint and some updates on the furnishings in the room. I have been to other Mercure hotels and all have had a few additional furnishings in the room which have lent to a nicer feel in the rooms, the Georgian is very basic. Unfortunately there were two parties on over Friday and Saturday night which went on till very late so none of our party got any sleep until the Sunday night when there wasn’t any event on. It would’ve been nice if a little more common sense had gone into room allocation and put our party furthest away from the event and anyone staying for just the one night on the night of the party where put on the first floor, so as to minimise the disruption. The party goers where very disruptive to several members of our party late into the night.
The food was abysmal I have to say, the vegetables were obliterated and completely inedible, which was a great disappointment.
However the staff were very friendly and the saving grace of the hotel.
Oh the official pictures here of the hotel are very generous to say the least, a little rose tinted I would say!

The room was clean, tidy and the bed was comfy. The bathroom is in need of a refurb, the flush didn’t always work. The facilities (pool, sauna, steam room etc) were nice enough. The jacuzzi could do with a tidy up. We didn’t try any of the food so can’t comment on that.

We were impressed with the revamp this hotel has had - it felt very modern, nice new decor, good looking reasonable sized rooms, a very comfortable bed.
We also liked the roller doors used in the place of curtains - they keep out the light and looked very modern.
We didn't use the restaurant at night so I can't comment on the evening meal (we went out into Preston for our night out) - however we had the choice of a good range of food and drinks in the morning in the pleasant and stylish restaurant - we were very happy with with our cooked breakfast - which set us up for the day.
The staff were all helpful and friendly.
The hotel is near to the part of Preston we wanted to be near and had an onsite car park which was convenient. We will use this hotel when we next visit Preston.

I stayed here for a few nights in February. This hotel is situated in a good city centre location, parking is a bit sparse though, maybe 30 cars? but there is a multi storey next door above the bus station. The hotel is nice and clean, good rooms and a good night sleep - in room internet free and I think wi-fi in the lobby is too, but I did not check this - I hope so because this is the way hotels are going now - and not charging daft sums - so well done Holiday Inn Preston - its a pity the rest of the Holiday Inn chain has not caught on yet. All the staff, especially the breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a reasonable bar food menu for the evening as well as a restuarant - Don`t see the point of noisy TVs in the bar area though - blaring away when nobody is watching - especially the football! I would definitely stay here again and I recommend the hotel. Well done

I was at the Holiday Inn Preston for 2 night last week, I once stayed there some 10 years or so ago. I must admit I did not recognise the Hotel, the refurbishment has breathed fresh life into the old buildings. My room was on the 2nd floor and was clean and tidy, although a little on the small side. The usual problem with this hotel is the parking as there are only about 30 spaces you have to lug your cases across from the bus station NCP, pay for the hotels £4 parking ticket and then walk all the way back again to put the ticket on your car. Sorry if this sounds a bit petty, but after a hard days work & having driven 200 miles I could really do without that hastle.

Overall a pleasant hotel, I found it to be a bit noisy (on the city centre ring road) with the associated parking hastle, but modern, clean and comfortable rooms.

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Holiday Inn, Preston. The room was on the 7th (highest) floor and was very comfortable and clean. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom along with tea and coffee facilities (including decent sized mugs). The staff were very helpful and the food in the restaurant (both evening meal and breakfast) were of a very good standard. The only real downside to the hotel is that it has a very small carpark (only 30 spaces) which were all full when we arrived but we were allowed to park next to the traffic island and no damage was done to the car despite the reduced room to manoeuvre. Overall a good nights stay.
