Where the hotel is situated makes easy access to Middlebrook and supermarkets. The hotel itself offers fantastic facilities free of charge including high speed wifi, use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Although on the website it does not state that these facilities are free which was 1. A lovely surprise 2. A good job we were prepared and brought swimming essentials. The staff were friendly and available at all times, eager to make your stay as pleasant and easy as possible. The room was basic yet had everything you'd need, the flat screen TV was a generous size and had HDMI ports allowing us to watch films through our laptop. The room essentials (bed sheets, bathroom) were immaculate but upon a closer look there were empty champagne bottles left in the wardrobe and so much hair under the bed sheet you could have made a wig.

Prior to booking the Georgian House, we did telephone them directly with regards to their pet policy. We were informed that we would be able to dine in the restaurant as Friday was "party night". They came across as very pet friendly, or so we thought. So we went ahead and booked bed and breakfast, including our dog to stay overnight. The price of the room was reasonable, however we have paid far less for more superior accommodation in Bolton and other areas. To be quite honest, my husband thought the room was ok, but the last time I stayed in the Georgian House (1988), it was far more luxurious and I believe it was 4*, not 3*. When we arrived the check in was very efficient and professional. However when we asked where the restaurant was, we were informed our dog would have to stay in the hotel room, that was unacceptable and also misleading from our initial call to the hotel. Having known that, we would not have booked the Georgian House. However it was party night, so we were reluctantly allowed to dine in there with our dog Bella. We had arranged for a close friend to dine with us that evening, so we were very disappointed that we had to take dinner in the cold and chilly bar area. The drink prices were extortionate, as was the meal prices. A main meal for three of us, with no drinks, was almost £60.00! Expensive for a 3* hotel. A round of drinks cost around £15.00. With wine, that would have added up to £100.00. We could't take breakfast in the restaurant or bar area, due to their pet policy. Breakfast in the room was provided (continental), trying not to be picky, but it was extremely basic. The toast arrived cold, the breakfast itself was very minimal. The accommodation was rather dated, with no character at all, pretty much clinical. Would not return to this Mercure Hotel. The window in the room looked like a skylight, and the hotel was very very noisy. Partying until 4 am.

We have been going to this hotel on new years for a few years now and I have got to say everything stays the same except the evening meal which has been going downhill over the years, this year the main was duck which I have to say was awful it was tough and tasteless also the other courses were not up to much either,i think its a rethink next year which is a shame

Bleak mid Jan you expect hotels to be quiet and at times understaffed. The Mercure Georgian in Bolton exceeded my expectations in all areas. Good atmosphere and excellent knowledgeable friendly staff in all areas of the hotel from the front desk through to the bar restaurant and all their leisure and beauty facilities.

This was our 4th visit to the hotel. We stayed in a family room on the 1st room, room was very spacious and clean. Staff very friendly. We stayed for evening meal and breakfast, both were very nice. We enjoyed our visit to the pool. Will definitely return again later on in the year.

Recently stayed here for a week on business. The good points - Close proximity to motorway network with M61 junction about 3 mins away. Ample free parking round the back of the hotel, never saw it full even when conference faciities were being used. Free wifi with good signal strength. One of the better hotel pool / fitness centres I have used although always best to avoid tea / time early evening in the pool due to swimming classes taking place.
Good selection on the buffet breakfast - all you can eat, also free newspapers if you get down in time
Comfortable bed
The bad points... (These have all been communicated to the Manager via email)
Avoid the older rooms (up to 440), very dated in decor and fittings, like a step back in time to the late 80`s,
Working space very much reduced due to television taking up most of the table top. Hanging space in wardrobe greatly reduced by storing ironing board and fan in there and whith internal chest of drawers
Draughts round the velux window which also means road noise can filter through. Electronic keycards failed on 3 of the 5 nights.
Dated bathroom complete with cream suite and ancient shower with a poor flow rate. Had a couple of issues with the housekeeping service regarding replenishments..
Food and drink prices on the high side against comparable grade hotels, maybe this is because they feel they have a captive market, however there is an Indian restaurant down the road and loads of other places to eat on the Middlebrook retail park adjacent to the Macron Stadium about 2 miles away. As in previous reviews it would appear that the hotel has a stock answer when adverse comments about food and drink prices being high ie ... "We will forward your feedback to our central office, who set the prices"
In conclusion I would say that when booking, it seemed reasonably priced, however after staying there I feel it is over priced

Staying at the Georgian House Hotel for the first time, I found the staff be very friendly from checking inn, to the restaurant to the Gym and pool. The rooms were very clean and airy. I had the bar food menu which was well cooked and tasty. I used the Gym and pool and there seemed to be good banter between the regular members and the hotel guests which makes a refreshing change. The 42inch TV in the room also adds to the experience.

Have stayed here twice recently on business trips. The hotel is well located just off the motorway and very close to the stadium. Rooms are large and spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom suites are a little dated. Food is of a good quality although I have only eaten in the bar area. Generally a good hotel although drinks are a little overpriced.
