On this occasion it would be rude of me not to write a compliment.
Courteous staff, clean room, super breakfast with a great choice,
A n utter steal at £55 B&B to lay one's head down for the night.
Well done to all concerned.

I would be very happy to stay here again. The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent.
There is also ample parking across from the hotel in the bus terminal, which if you talk to the hotel staff first costs £4 a day. However, there is very little parking outside the hotel, which means you have to pay for the car park first and then check in. The rooms are very clean and of an excellent standard for the price of the room. The breakfast was also excellent.

I can say its average. I booked a room for One night. Standard room or so I thought. Tired and a little weary I made my way to the fifth floor. Opened the door. Two single beds. So I went back down to reception. Could I have a double bed please. What did you book ? A double room I state well it's a standard and they are allocated on arrival ok? And anyway we are fully booked. Rooms are stuffy the view in the distance over the bus station is great. Good points. It's near the bus station and a short walk to the train station. The beer is cold and the chicken caesar salad was exceptional. I would give the scrambled egg at breakfast a miss too distinctly watery and grainy. Not what I would expect of a holiday inn at all

Had a double room with everything in it was very clean and comfortable. As a 1 night stop was perfectly adequate, wouldn't stay any longer as nothing really there The service in the restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast was very good food in evening nothing special, breakfast a lot more choice

Stayed here last weekend (5th floor, double room), room was nice with just a few tiny niggles (bedside light not working, wobbly toilet seat, hole in net curtains).

Breakfast was fantastic with a very relaxed atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff members - one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had in years!

Only strange thing is that after 10pm the lift doesn't go to the ground floor meaning after our evening out we had to climb a flight of stairs, walk wast a deserted reception desk to get the lift from 1st to 5th floor, as an asthma sufferer this isn't really ideal but how anyone in a wheelchair would manage I have no idea?!

Overall was please though and would deffo stay again.

The welcome and general nature of the staff at this hotel was superb! A group of us stayed last weekend and I must say the staff made it all the more special. The rooms were clean, stylish and large and the bar area was surprisngly decent too.

We shall stay again, and we certainly recommend.

Staff on the front desk were friendly, explained everything we needed to know. Room had plenty of space and nice and clean. Nice comfy double bed and aircon was a bonus.
The hotel was in a great central location for us for a night out in Preston, would definitely use this hotel again.

Arrived late after a long drive with the family. Easy to find and satnav took us straight there.
Rooms was spacious and the beds comfortable.
The Children loved the Blue Nightlight in the bathroom which is a nice idea and the shower was massive ! (according to my 8 yr old!)
bathroom lighting was a little dim and considering I had booked a room with twin double beds, we only had towels for 2 people (was too late to ask for more as we only realised the next morning.

Breakfast was ok, nothing to shout about, we arrived at 09:15 for breakfast and the hot selection was very poor (no fresh food being put out) so we had to have the overcooked offerings that were left.
Good supply of Coffee and cereals and Orange juice and the tables were cleaned away quickly after people had departed.
Checkin / out was swift and painfree also.
Defiantly one I will use again on trips up north, and within 30 miles of Blackpool if you donot want to stay in the town.

As an IHG member we stay in holiday inns as a first choice when we need a hotel. This is the first time we really weren't all that impressed. The rooms were ok, but not as nice as most we stay in. Strange layout of reception as you have to use the stairs or lift to get to it. Parking is a nightmare, especially late at night. What disappointed us most was the staff on this occasion. We are used to being greeted at holiday inns with a big smile, but this time we had a miserable young lady who clearly wanted to get rid of us from reception as soon as possible. In the morning my husband and I fancied a quick coffee before leaving. I stood at the bar for a good 6 or 7 minutes waiting for someone to come and serve me. There were plenty people clearing up from breakfast, and they knew I was there. In the end I gave up waiting as my custom clearly wasn't wanted.

Won't be staying here again, first impressions count for a lot with me.

I booked a two day deal with dinner and bottle of wine included for the first night. I had requested upgrade to Privilege Room for extra £20 per night. When we arrived, the boiler in Privilege Room part of the hotel wasn't working so we were transferred to another room, nice and warm. The staff were all excellent throughout our stay, particularly Irene and Marina in the Bar and Karen the Aromatherapist who provided high quality massages (highly recommended!). The quality of food was 1st class and we chose from the Table D'hote menu (£22 for 2 courses) on the first night. The second night we chose from the more expensive menu, again good quality but not recommended for travellers on a tight budget. There is free WiFi in the hotel but you may find 4G is faster. Strangely we didn't see any families using the hotel during our stay (unusual bearing in mind the indoor pool). There is a gym, saunas, steam Room and spa bath. The hotel seems to be popular with business customers. Yes, the bathrooms are a bit dated and the shower/curtain can puddle on the bathroom floor. However the beds are comfortable and rooms adequately equipped.
The highlight of this hotel is the staff who make every effort to make your stay enjoyable and are a credit to the Mercure Hotel chain.
