The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very tasty, staff working in the breakfast room also very friendly, stopping here again in a couple of weeks. The rooms are clean, modern and tidy. We were in the roof and the room was spacious, even had a sofa.

Stayed several times for work over the years and had a Christmas party there. Comfortable rooms, all you need to work. Reasonable food. A little way from town. Nice pool, great in the winter.

Good selection of beers. I prefer the rooms on the outside.

This hotel, although having a building which is 'tired' in places, is a fabulous place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, the staff very helpful and friendly. The food is very good, except for the lemon on the breakfast mushrooms. Excellent venue for special occasions including Weddings. The Suite in amazing, the only think it lacks is a set of drawers and an adjustable showerhead. Having the separate lounge in the suite is invaluable.

Visited in January whilst working in the area , arrived to be greeted by a lovely young lady on the reception who was knowledgeable and helpful.
The room was pleasant but a little dated it contained a four poster bed ,small sofa and desk. The bathroom was in need of a lick of paint but ok .
Wasn’t sure as to the spa area but the receptionist went out of her way to show me where everything was.
Went down to use the sauna and pool which was clean and tidy .
The only down side was the bar prices but was expected to be pricey.
Overall pleasant experience but could do with a lick of paint and a little TLC.

Location is ideal for events at either Bolton arena or the Macron stadium - it is just over 1 mile from either and accessible from either road or public transport.

The rooms themselves are fine and have the amenities you would expect from the chain - beds are comfortable and it is always welcome to have a batch available.

My rate included breakfast which I thought was OK but certainly not worth the £15 price tag. The range of options was adequate but if you are charging such a high price I was hoping for something special which was sadly lacking.

On this occasion I didn't get the chance to use the leisure facilities but I have used them on prior visits and thought they were good.

I can see there are mixed reviews about this hotel which I can understand. Last time I stayed here I was in a twin room and have to say the beds were really uncomfortable and room was a little tired. The breakfast was average with the croissants so dry , they were barely edible.
can honestly say it's quite nice. I stayed again a week later and had a double room which was much much better and the breakfast was better but still not brilliant
Staff seemed friendly, and overall good value.

Generally well up to Mercure standards of room etc. staff excellent very welcoming and ultra professional, they really care! Especially the restaurant and kitchen staff - lamb shank to die for!
Couple of minor niggles, the shower seemed short on pressure and the loo was sometimes reluctant to flush, neither so severe as to warrant asking to swap rooms, mentioned them to staff on departure and they promised to have maintenance check them out - that's what we expect.
My real grouse was the breakfast and lack of consistency across the estate, cereals and hot food great and plenty of it, my love of the Mercures especially Southampton is the great range of cold meats, cheeses etc as in Europe, this was conspicuous by its absence as were yoghurts, fresh fruit etc.
I hope this is down to regional / local demand or management decisions and not becoming the norm or it will be a sad day for the chain.
Otherwise as good as usual.

Although the hotel has a somewhat unprepossessing exterior, and an oddly located reception area on the first floor, the interior is clean and bright. The room was smaller than I would expect from a HI property (this a franchised hotel) but was pleasant and spotlessly clean. The bed was firm and very comfortable and came with both firm and soft pillows, and a menu of further options (feather, hypoallergenic, etc) that could be ordered. There was a large flat screen TV (standard channels plus some cable options) a hospitality tray furnished with Tetley tea bags, Kenco instant coffees and biscuits, a hair dryer, and a mini bar that could be stocked on request. The bathroom was clean and modern, with a curved shower rail and plenty of counter space for toiletries and make up. A range of hot and cold choices were provided for breakfast, with good quality rolls and pastries and plenty of fruit on offer. I ate lunch and evening meals in the bar, the restaurant and in my room and the food was of a consistent quality - hot, freshly prepared, appetisingly presented - and good value for money (in hotel terms). Internet access although charged for is extremely cheap by hotel standards, and Priority Club members get free WiFi in the bar, restaurant and other public areas. Front of house and F & B staff were friendly and welcoming, and all requests were responded to immediately. I appeared to be the only lone female staying in the hotel, but felt safe and comfortable at all times. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to business travellers.

I appreciated the free wifi for Priority club card holders. The restaurant is fast and friendly. service is attentive. There is a gym on the top floow with a view of the town but there are four bikes and no treadmills whcih I was very disappointed about. The rooms are pretty avearge for a holiday inn - geeting increasingly basic as the years go by. I checked out early and the night porter charged me incorrectly. I was then charged more directly on to my card some ten days later when they put right the mistake but nobody informed me about this. I would stay here again given what is available in Preston.
