I stayed here with a colleague for work. We found the staff very helpful, the food was lovely, and my room was clean and modern.

My room was clean with lovely pillows and duvets and a clean bathroom.

The breakfast buffet was very good with full English being available as well as continental. This was lovely.

When I need to stay in Preston for work, I will stay at this hotel from now on.

The room was good as was the dinner and breakfast. Parking is very limited, so be warned there is a car park near by, but not the best to have to walk a long way after a long drive!

I've been staying at the Holiday Inn in Preston for two week periods over the last four years (doing a part time course at the local Uni).

I had previously been staying at another hotel in the town but was sick of being woken up at all hours by the other guests.

The holiday inn Preston experience on the whole has been positive. The staff are friendly and have always looked after me well. The rooms are clean and spacious - desk to lay out college work, laptops etc and accomodate the large flat screen television provided. If there was ever an issue in the room - which didn't happen often - maintenance were on hand swiftly to correct any faults (normally a bust light bulb).
Food in the bar is on the pricey side but has always been good quality. Best value for money is the ringway burger - its great. The menu doesn't change much but if you're there for a week or less that's not an issue. Didn't tend to eat in the restuarant - better atmosphere in the bar. There is a small gym located on the top floor - it has enough equipment to work up a sweat.
Location is pretty good - 5 minutes walk to the main high street - although its quite a walk from the train station

Negative comments - mainly the size of the car park. get there early otherwise you end up having to park in the public car park opposite which tends to be frequented by the local hoodlams. Staying on the main road side of the hotel can be quite noisy so I tended to request a room on the bus station side (although you have to ignore the sounds of the buses reversing). The hotel is quite pricey but it really is the only decent one within the town centre.

all in all a hotel which does not deserve to be so far down the review list in my opinion. Top tip - join the priority club rewards scheme - stay there long enough and you get free hotel nights elsewhere...

Just had an excellent one night stay at the Holiday Inn. Arrived an hour early and was able to check in. Bedroom was spotless as was the bathroom. No noise from other rooms. Breakfast in the morning was well organised, good food and you could have as much as you wanted. Excellent value for money.
Word of warning...if you dont plan to drink form the mini bar dont move anything!

This 1970's building is located in the centre of Preston - opposite the bus station, 5 minute walk to the Town Hall, 7-8 minutes walk from the main shopping area and 20 minutes from the railway station. There is on-site parking for about 25-30 cars.

The rooms are fairly compact but should be ok for a short stay. Reasonably well equipped with most basic requirements provided. Nice flat screen TV.

The breakfast was very good with lots of choice of cereals, hot food, fruit, yogurts and pastries, etc and stocks were regularly replenished. The breakfast room/restaurant is nicely furnished and like the rooms appear to have been refurbished fairly recently. Noted the restaurant prices/bar were not cheap and appeared to be very quiet during our weekend stay. We did not bother with either the restaurant or bar.

We paid £45 bed and breakfast for the room which represented very good value for money. Not so sure I would have been so keen if we had been paying significantly more.Overall, quite a good stay if you obtain at the right price.

Altough the hotel is not much to look at from the outside we found the interior modern and clean. We stayed here to attend a performance at the Guildhall which is a few minutes walk away.

The room was clean and comfortable although there was some confusion as i had booked an executive room through the hotels website and found upon arrival that the hotel did not have any executive rooms. This didn't inconvience us much as we did not spend a lot of time in the room. Reception staff were apologetic and are going to ensure the website is updated.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent, the food hot and of good quality, service was also good despite the restaurant being very busy.

I arrived in Preston on a grim December day, and getting to the Holiday Inn on foot was not the easiest task. My heart sank when I saw the hotel, as it bore more than a passing resemblance to a 1970s municipal car-park. AND it was more or less situated in the middle of a ring-road on the A6!

However, this is one hotel you shouldn't just by its drab exterior. Although the public areas of the hotel are fairly average, I was pretty impressed by the room, which was a cut above what I usually expect when travelling for work. The room was spotlessly clean and very modern, with a good bathroom, plasma TV and even a mini-bar (though it's motion-activated, so if you move something while being nosy you might be charged for it!)

The hotel also manages to turn its urban location into a positive. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ring road, but there was something beautiful about the lights of the town and the traffic! And what's more, despite the close proximity to a motorway, the hotel was really quiet - good double-glazing, obviously.

I didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant or the breakfast on offer. My only negative comment would be that the pillows on the bed were hard - but then that's probably my fault, as there was a 'pillow menu' on offer that I didn't take advantage of!

Got a cheap rate through Sky Perks - 38 GBP for a twin, room only. Check in was fast and frendly. As a priority club member you get free wifi to use in the bar and a free newpaper at weekdays. The inside is much nicer than the outside, the bar and restauant look modern with large windows. The rooms were a tad on the small size (Compared to the Macdonald Manchester) but were clean with a comfey beds and a very clean bathroom. LCD TV. Good shower. The rooms were quiet despite being next to ringway. Good air con in the room.

Paid an extra for 6.75 GBP for the breakfast which was well worth it, very good selection of a buffet style and good quality and service. In fact a friend actually liked the breakfast more here than the Macdonald Manchester.

Central to the city centre so ideal if going out and get a cheap rate.

I choose this hotel as we reguarly stay over in preston to visit friends. having tried sevral of prestons hotels we finally decided to give the holiday Inn ago. what a suprise this is by far the best hotel we have stayed at in the area. From the warm friendly arrival to the immpresively clean room with a modern TV. Every staff member we came in contact was friendly. If you want a drink or food, my advice is not to think its a hotel it will be dear they had plenty of offers on. For once we could invite our friends for a drink and not be embarresed by the prices. To be honest even if they had of been dear the bar was so relaxing and service was so friendly we would of payed it.

For a one night business stop this ticks all boxes. Good food, flexible breakfast times with fresh food, good sized rooms and had no sleep issues. Value priced hotel with free parking. Feel the public areas need a facelift to fit in with Mercure brand. Didn't use leisure facilities but good to know they are there.
