a group of 14 friends needed an xmas night out and came across this deal which we thought was a good offer. 20pound for 3 courses, disco and some party accessories!
arrived on the earlier side and was asked to wait in the bar area to be called. nice clean setting, and got a drink. raspberry cidre...£5 a bottle not to bad i thought,.but other friends ordered different drinks on the expensive side.
was asked to head on down to the room, again great setting, nice Dec's and freebies (hats, crackers, whistles, etc).
our party had been split onto 2 tables but there was no worry when we asked to push them together. all happy.
waitressing staff friendly and smiley, DJ welcoming and up for a laugh. food was lovely and served prompt, not to much waiting time in between courses.
was actually a good night for us the only complaint from myself and many others of my party was the male barman....arrogant, ignorant, no banter (which for an xmas party you would expect a little)...morbid face, in all honesty a very arsey young man who thought he was above his station!!
part from him the night was enjoyable and was worth the money. shame the barman needed to get a life and SMILE

The staff at the Mercure are incredibly accommodating. Friendly and welcoming.

It's impeccably clean and service is great. The room s are a little small but lovely warm and welcoming.

Breakfast is amazing everything you could wish for and eggs cooked to order.

I haven't been in the swimming pool but looks incredibly inviting. It's not busy.

Fun, gracious and vibrant.

From the moment we walked in the door we were waiting.. there was a serious shortage of staff (helpful or otherwise) and the receptionist wasn't overly welcoming. Room was clean enough and the bed very comfy but the bathroom, as with most of the Mercure hotel groups chain, was tired and in need of a refit. The bath panel was a piece of plywood and the seal around the bath looked like it had been done by a monkey. I waited to get home to shower. Ordered room service and was told I had to pay cash when it arrived...luckily I had some!! £21 for a couple of sandwiches seemed a bit excessive but what are you going to do...there was no Piccalilli on the "Ham and Piccalilli" sandwich though!!!! Problems with the computers meant we had to pay for drinks at the bar rather than on our room tab as well...most unusual..The evening dinner was pretty unspectacular. It was a presentation dinner so very much "conference food"...I couldn't eat my main course as it was a bit too bland. The bar staff were a mix of "out of their depth and overworked" but one lad was very helpful over a mix up with one of my guests dinners...he disappeared to the kitchen and the meal duly arrived...top marks to him. The receptionist couldn't even be bothered to wish us farewell when we said goodbye, she'd obviously had a long night.

We needed a place to stay overnight, plain and simple. We wanted a comfortable, quiet room and had it. Although we are Platinum Accor members, we were not upgraded, but were given an extra drink in the bar. A huge convention of blind people learning to use their guide dogs was there at the same time which made it a fascinating time to be there. We had a bar dinner as no restaurant service was available. All was fine, but nothing special.

We enjoyed our overnight stay here while attending a Christmas do in Bolton. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We needed to be close to the lift and the receptionist went out of her way to sort this out for us, explaining that she wouldn't put us in a ground floor room as a party would make it very noisy. Bed was very comfortable. OK, the rooms are "tired", but the whole place is spotlessly clean. Breakfast lovely and no queuing! I would wholeheartedly recommend!

Plenty of car parking. Great food and no trouble being served at the bar. Great xmas feel. Good Dj. Dance floor a bit small but overall great time. Plenty of seating to go in the chill area and a whiskey xx

I stayed at this hotel for a one night stay over as part of a group company planning event. The location was handy, easy to find and near to the M61. My room was clean, spacious and fairly comfortable.

The bathroom was clean however it seemed dated. Unfortunately the hairdryer was out of use although this did not cause a problem.

The hotel facilities & meeting rooms were average and a good layout for what we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food did vary, breakfast was good, dinner had a range of choices which did vary quite a lot in quality.

I wouldnt return to the hotel unless it is for a similar event.

I came to a 'do' here and stayed overnight. It is a convenient location with plenty of parking on site. The food at the function was good (though plates were stone cold), but I thought that the reception design was poor - receptionist was 'in the back' each time I went to the desk - would be better if the work station was to the side of the desk. I had a similar problem with the bar in the function room the previous evening, where the barman was in the 'other side' (the front bar) and couldn't hear my approach above the noise of the disco in our function. It might be sensible just to have an old-fashioned 'ring for assistance' bell! The room was OK - some updating in evidence - but the shower was pathetic and a shower curtain is not really adequate these days. At £72 incl breakfast (booked on the day), a rate I only got by 'joining' Mercure hotels guest club, I thought it over-priced.

Rooms are typical of a mecure hotel. The Nespresso machines in the premier rooms are a nice touch.
Never eaten in the hotel for dinner but breakfast was fine but nothing special.
Bar is a bit unfriendly with no atmosphere and really uncomfortable seats.
