We just spent the weekend in this hotel and wpuld visit again.
The car park was not an issue at the weekend, despite reviews we had read on here.
The room was fine, clean and large enough and pretty good for an old Holiday Inn which has obviously had more than one refurb.
The breakfast was delicious and good value.
Only gripe was the desperate lack of atmosphere (or warmth of any kind) in the bar on Saturday evening. We were the only people there, apart from the very friendly bar manager. The temperature was so cold it was almost coats on. TV was on with no sound and some meaningless pop music playing too loud throughout at the same time. We only ate there as is was so cold out. Not sure there was actually much in it.
Hopefully when you go it will be warmer in atmosphere and temperature

We stayed on a cold weekend in January, when we were visiting for a friend's birthday celebrations. We were a little concerned about parking, but the receptionist made the point of ensuring that when we returned later in the evening, there would be a space available. She said that she did not like the thought of us finding our way back in the dark from a nearby public car park.
The room was fine and warm, and the breakfast service was as much as we needed.

This hotel is bang in the centre of Preston, next door to the bus station. Parking is seriously limited at the hotel but they have a £4 deal with the bus station car park. It is not a nice experience parking in that car park as very old and a bit creepy.

The hotel has reception on the 1st floor but surprisingly at night they stopped you from using the ground floor lift by putting a barrier in front of them. Pointless, lazy and looks awful.

The rooms are very small but modern enough and the bathroom was excellent.

All the staff were friendly though had to be reminded that I am a platinum member but no big deal.

I would only recommend this city for a one night stopover as it has very few positives.

I have been staying at this Holiday Inn four or five times a year for about seven years now and I write this with a certain sense of regret.

The rooms are still clean and serviceable as they are in most Holiday Inns across the globe but a couple of factors are almost deal breakers for the business traveller.

First, as others have reported here, the free wifi service is so slow as to be almost unusable. I was driven to distraction by this on my last visit. No meaningful assistance was to be had from the staff so £5 had to be spent and, sadly, I can't recoup the cost through expenses.

Off to the bar at about 7.30 p.m. in need of a drink, despite knowing that prices here are among the highest that I have found in Preston, I found it dreary as usual but so deserted this time that no staff were to be seen. A visit to reception failed to secure assistance. Eventuallly, I stopped a members of the restaurant staff who said that she would 'find someone'. She did, an assistant manager doing her rounds apparently.

Pricing is bizarre. An offer of a bottle of house wine for £9, about what it's worth was strange when compared to the continuing price of a large glass of £6!This is hardly consistent with the government's call to hoteliers to encourage responsible drinking.

There are remaining pluses. The staff are helpful and cheerful. The experienced breakfast brigade is particularly up to the mark but, oh dear, when I was there occupancy levels were so low that breakfasts were 'made to order'. Given what I was served with, I suspect that this meant served from hot plates in the kitchen to tighten up portion control.

All such a pity.

Stayed here February 2015 for a night out in Preston.

View from room was not ideal (our room on 2nd floor looked out across a flooded flat roof (possibly the hotel restaurant's roof), and beyond that was the unsightly concrete bus station so I wouldn't stay here if trying to impress a ladyfriend etc but was ok for a place to sleep following a night out.
Not very well soundproofed which makes Preston sound like the crime and accident capital of the country as all you could hear was emergency vehicle sirens going past hotel continuously all evening.

Breakfast however was excellent value (£5 each if booked at time of booking or ordered the night before - if you buy it on the day you want it though it is substantially more so I advise paying in advance for it.)
Good selection of cereals, toast, premium jam, continental meats and cheese as well as a cooked breakfast buffet.

Hotel also allowed us to get a free late checkout of 2pm in exchange for signing up to the hotel's free loyalty program. Hotel including rooms also have free wifi, and there is a free gym (no pool) if you want to use it.

Hotel is in a good location for the city centre. Right outside main bus station and a 10 to 15 minute walk from Main Train Station.
Hotel has a small car park out front but you can also park in the bus station multi storey for free (you need to get a car park permit from the hotel reception)

From check in to check out a delightful experience.
The final night in a hotel after a long week working away from home. Having had a horrendous night the evening previous with another hotel chain, the Holiday Inn Preston restored my faith in the British hospitality industry.
From the moment I was checked in by a lovely receptionist called Jenny to check out my stay was great. The room was well appointed and clean. I ate in the restaurant and not only was the food great so was the service. The staff on duty were lovely, attentive with out being overbearing and genuinely appeared happy with their work. The two staff in question were both youngsters ( Kirsty and Lee) and provided excellent service. Breakfast had a great choice again staff pleasant and attentive. Checkout was easy and quick. A big than you to all the staff who made my visit memorable . I certainly recommend this hotel.

The advice and organisation was absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful. The function room was ideal for our party size (30/40 ). We also booked 3 family rooms for 2 nights, which were very comfortable and clean. We would unreservedly recommend, based on our experience.

We arrived early, so ordered a sandwich each, which took 45 minutes to arrive, my wife had a prawn mayonnaise sandwich, there was only 5 small prawns in the sandwich, we complained and they took it away and we only paid for our drinks, my wife shared my cheese sandwich, we didn't want to wait again. Breakfast was another problem, the hot buffet was okay, but there were no fried eggs, we were informed that they were on there way, but 10 minutes later, no eggs, so we had a breakfast without eggs. We will not stay there again.
