Not a castle, there are some walls and a mound. Nice park and setting, with the river running through the grounds.

I took my eight year old grandson. He loved it as did I. There is so much to see in such a small space. The only complaint is that it was far too overheated and it was this that drove us out before we had really seen everything.

Loved my visit with my client to this great little museum. I learned a lot from all the articles and exhibits, but also from my client as it really fuelled his memory of his wartime youth. Staff are lovely - very friendly and helpful. A great find.

A compact but perfectly formed museum. They have regular temporary exhibitions ranging from one about the local postal service to one on Kitsch. Good permanent exhibitions, including one on toothbrushes which used to be manufactured in Hertford. I loved looking at the display on 20th century artifacts and reminiscing about my youth!!! And all for free. Well worth a visit.

Free to enter and bunged full of weird and wonderful artefacts as well as classic local history, this place is a wee gem. I strongly suggest making an hour or more to stroll around gaping at the displays and reading the info. Although it's no Science Museum, there are some interactive exhibits too to keep small people amused. Shame there is no cafe but it's in a wonderful setting with teas and coffees in the town centre close by.

Nestled in a back street in the centre of Hertford, this amazing little place has some great artifacts from all eras of the past in Hertford. Lots to do for kids too. Well maintained and looked after.

for anyone thinking about coming to the wonderful Hertford, make sure that you take yourself down to the Hertford Museum. Golly golly gosh, I had the time of my life playing with the little wooden till upstairs and I love listening to everyone's stories. I live in Hertford, and I go there every Saturday! it never gets old and there always a new adventure in store at this fabulous place. Best day of my life was when my non-binary soulmate (who identifies as the number one on the wooden till) got down on one knee... and gave me his non-binary, non-identifiable wisdom of life. It was a special moment! And from that day on, Grover (my huzzy) and Periwinkle (our joint pearls of wisdom) have never looked back. We now live in Stowmarket on our ferret farm.

We were exploring the town and decided on the spot to pop in and find out some of the history of the town. It is free, and an hour is enough. Toothbrushes, gloves and the seat of government during the Plague interested us most.
