If people travelled here expecting to see an actual castle they would be extremely disappointed. It is mainly offices . However , the grounds are very pleasant to walk through or stop with a picnic . Lots of concerts in the summer and very pretty back drop of the castle lit up .

Took five grandchildren aged between 4-12 on the train to Hertford East for an Easter holiday activity. Our aim was to visit the museum, a ten minute walk from the station.
The staff were very helpful and gave us a lovely welcome. The displays were excellent and young person focused. We sat in the peaceful garden and ate our sandwiches. A fascinating and interesting couple of hours. Highly recommended.

Great place to engage with informed professionals. The course we had was a valuable aid to my confidence in research I was conducting.

Visited this great little museum for the first time and loved it! Some of the exhibits may be small but are exceptional, we were really surprised at the kinds of exhibits, some you would only expect to see in major national museums. There are two floors and male, female and disabled toilets as well as a lift for wheelchairs to the first floor, we thought the provision was really good. The little shop was well stocked with interesting items for children and the interactive technology was good for interested youngsters. Easily accessed from the bus station and opposite the theatre in the centre of town. There is no cafe but coffee outlets abound in the area. Really recommend.

A very nice local museum that is full of local interest. Everything from prehistoric through local geology to industry. And it's free too!

We appreciated all the interesting displays and information inside the museum and in the garden we were very impressed by the espallied fig tree. Our congratulations to the volunteers!

Although the museum is small, entrance is free and there are some really interesting and out of the ordinary collections in there. It's well worth a visit.

The museum is located in a historic house from the 17th.? century. There is no entry charge. the town of Hertford is famous for a palace which no longer exists and a toothbrush factory. All the items are well described and well presented and there are some technologically presented items such as the oral history.
It is well worth a visit.
