It's nice to come here and walk around and see the history of this place. It is right in the centre of the town but you wouldn't think so when walking around - it's nice and peaceful and you can sit here chilling and reading a book. I like the events they put on in summer too, always lively and well run.

We have visited Hertford several times, but oddly, this was the first time we went to the castle. We didn't know what we were missing! We strolled around the gardens - immaculate - and marvelled at how well preserved the castle and its outbuildings are. Hertford has a gem here, and it is strange that this is not relegated to being a tourist trap like so many of the castles in England. It's beautiful!

I love architecture and, as I was in Hertford for another appointment, it seemed stupid not to visit. It isn't a real castle, in the accepted sense of the word - at least in my opinion. The property isn't open to the public as it's actually the home of the Council Offices and a prominent Wedding Venue. The gardens are kept well, but don't expect anything stunning or you'll be disappointed. A place for a pleasant stroll and for reading a book in relatively quiet surroundings.

Not a castle, there are some walls and a mound. Nice park and setting, with the river running through the grounds.

I took my eight year old grandson. He loved it as did I. There is so much to see in such a small space. The only complaint is that it was far too overheated and it was this that drove us out before we had really seen everything.

Loved my visit with my client to this great little museum. I learned a lot from all the articles and exhibits, but also from my client as it really fuelled his memory of his wartime youth. Staff are lovely - very friendly and helpful. A great find.

A compact but perfectly formed museum. They have regular temporary exhibitions ranging from one about the local postal service to one on Kitsch. Good permanent exhibitions, including one on toothbrushes which used to be manufactured in Hertford. I loved looking at the display on 20th century artifacts and reminiscing about my youth!!! And all for free. Well worth a visit.
