The Venerable Bede gives the first mention of Herutford in 731AD a ford over the River Lea although it may have been possibly mentioned in 672AD if it was used as a meeting place for a council of bishops. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records that in 913, Edward the Eldar ordered the building of two Burhs on either side of the ford in his campaign against the Danes. A motte and bailey castle was built by the Normans in the Southern of the Burhs incorporating the earlier earthworks into the castle. It was built in the 11th century and is believed to have been built shortly after the invasion, it was granted to Peter de Valognes, the High Sheriff of Essex and Hertfordshire by William I. The earliest documentary record of the castle shows that between 1170-1174 extensive building works were carried out on the orders of Henry II, it was fully garrisoned by this time. It was besieged by the French in 1216 who occupied it after it was surrendered, but they had abandoned it by 1217 when the country turned against them. It was mostly used a prison for important prisoners from the 1300's onwards. Isabella, known as the She Wolf of France, the wife of Edward II died in the castle in 1358. A flat topped motte which is 6.5m high stands to the North with the bailey slightly angled to the S/E. A double ditch once surrounded the castle on three sides with the Northern side protected by the river, but has been partly filled in due to buildings. A stone curtain wall still stands to a height and a 15th century gatehouse to the West. The castle grounds are free to visit, the motte is behind a fence but can be viewed from the grounds.

This is the second time I have visited, the first time was in April and both times I did the VIP experience with the lemurs. What an amazing experience, hence why I did it twice! The first time I visited I walked around the zoo and hardly saw any animals but I went back around again and saw loads. In fact I managed to see every animal and if they were asleep the first time, they were up and about the second time. You can't dictate when an animal decides to walk around and not be asleep so you need to be patient. The catering was also brilliant. The zookeepers very friendly and knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to visit again.

We migrated our online school from GetCourse to Systeme.io, including thousands of contacts and multiple online courses. The migration process was handled professionally from start to finish.

Salim was extremely responsive, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. He imported our contacts, preserved our tags, set up the course enrollments, configured the necessary automations, and answered all of our questions in detail.

Even when we encountered a few unexpected issues during the migration, he worked with us to resolve them quickly and kept us informed every step of the way.

Overall, the migration experience was smooth, and we really appreciate the quality of the support team. Thank you, Salim, for your excellent assistance!

Overall, Systeme.io’s free migration service is an incredible value, and the team provides a great service with wonderful manners. However, you do need to have realistic expectations going into it.

While the standard timeline is often quoted in weeks, because the team manually rebuilds your pages in their editor, my migration actually took months to complete. I migrated over from Kajabi, and because I didn't know what time zone my support representative was residing in, coordinating the live authentication timing was a bit difficult.

To be fully transparent, I still need to go through the entire migration to thoroughly check for missing pieces, but I have noticed a few things. There were some small but critical layout or content mistakes within the online courses. Additionally, my contacts were not successfully imported despite my request. Navigating the communication inbox inside the platform felt a bit trickier than a normal Gmail setup, so it's possible that specific request simply got lost in translation.

Despite these bumps along the way, having a team manually move your business over for free is highly appreciated. It is a fantastic cost-saver, just be prepared to give it extra time and make sure to double-check the final work yourself!

We booked a corporate event at Hertfordshire Zoo and were fortunate enough to be hosted in the Tiger Room. It was our first time holding a large event at the zoo, and the day was fantastic.
The venue offered excellent views of the tiger enclosure, and we were lucky enough to see the tigers walk past several times throughout the day, which was a real highlight for our guests.
We also enjoyed a one-hour guided tour led by a member of the zoo team. His knowledge of the zoo, its animals, and conservation work was first-class and added greatly to the experience.
I would definitely recommend Hertfordshire Zoo to any business looking for a unique event venue, as well as to families looking for a great day out.
