Warm and friendly welcome at the Mercure Bolton . I had a family room which even with three beds had room to move in! I ate in the restaurant , food was nicely presented and cooked well. The hotel has lots of parking and is a good base to explore the local area which has good walking nearby. I would have scored the rooms more highly but the the rooms and the hotel could do with some refurbishment.

A good all-round hotel with great staff.
Like many hotels these days the rooms on special offers are showing some sign of wear and age, but nothing to cause alarm. Overall the food is good and drink prices are reasonable (for an hotel).
The staff are friendly and helpful, and if things do go wrong they are quick to resolve it.

Good Gym and pool Facilities, quiet hotel, room cost reasonable, very comfortable beds. Decent WiFi. Staff friendly.
Negatives- Appears not enough staff, dirty beer glass left by lift on second floor for whole 15 hours I was there. Food and drinks expensive for the area.
Leaking ceilings and generally tired building. Finally shower very lame and poor. During my stay flys all over hotel. Told by staff member happens when farmers disturb nearby fields.

Hotel in need of upgrade damaged windows, catches fly's everywhere, which is a shame because staff very helpful, service in restaurant very average now, breakfast has reverted to buffet, where before cooked to order (Much better )

We stayed here for 1 night and were really impressed. We got a great rate for B&B and we had dinner in the bar when we arrived. Food in the bar was served until 10pm and we arrived at 9.45pm and they had no problem taking the order and it was freshly made. The hotel itself is right in the town centre and easy to find as its next to a big multi-story car park and the bus station. The hotel has its own small car park which they told us about before we arrived. The room had flatscreen TV and nice clean bathroom. I've no problem recommending this place.

I travel frequently for business. This was my 2nd stay here. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Minibar was empty and I didn't see vending machines for bottled water but got water with room service. Was a bit annoyed with room service though. The food was ok, just a basic pasta dish which comes with garlic bread. I didn't realise that though and ordered extra garlic bread. Staff could have told me it already came it!

Didn't do breakfast so can't comment.

Check in could have been quicker. I explained I was priority check in and he gave me forms to fill in. I started doing this but asked why as other ich's don't ask. He then realised I was pc member and just got me to sign in. Check out was a little frantic but I find mist hotels are. My only teal gripe with reception is that it's so close to the stairs ghat people have to queue on them. Not very safe.

Stayed overnight on 11th and 18th June, requested an omelette as items on menu were not suitable, with some reluctance on the 11th it was served, on the 18th after a 35 minute wait it was served with no apology for the delay, all meals from menu had been served and I ate alone, spoke to Operations Manager who then obviously spoke to wait person who grudgingly said she had forgotten to place order, despite writing it down in front of me.
Coffe and Tea were served before desserts, an unusual practice.
The rooms were OK but do not deviate from the set menu!!!!!

I've stayed here before but feel it's getting tired and won't be rushing back.

Check in was easy enough though no advantage being a Priority Club member.

Room was ok though no mini-bar and quite noisy being next to stairs.

We'd added breakfast to our room only rate but were still charged the next morning.

Free wi-fi in communal areas only.

Car park incredibly small.

Certainly no sparkle. A bit disappointing. Sigh.

Stayed here on two separate nights with coach trip and was pleasantly surprised as we have stayed at Glasgow Airport Holiday Inn Express and the food, room and facilities were nowhere near as good. Room and furnishings modern and although room small it was very comfortable.Bathroom modern and clean although again a bit on the small side it had everything we required. Appreciated the pillow menu. Choice of three dishes with three courses and coffee. Breakfast really good and the red berries which I had along with yoghurt first class.Staff courteous and obliging.
