We stayed at Last Drop Village for 1 night for a 21st birthday, on arrival we wandered into the village and had some drinks and bar snacks in the pub on site, there is a pool table and darts board, the garlic bread we had was very nice. When we went to check in, the lady on the desk was very helpful but when we got our room (inside the hotel, not the cottages) we were disappointed. The rooms are very outdated and there was an old musky smell, the beds were comfy and clean but 1 of the bedside lights was broken. In the bathroom there was only 1 bath towel between 2 of us and all the towels and robes smelt horrible, like food. The bathroom was clean except the bath was full of mild and mildew and dirty but the taps didn’t even turn on so we had to have a shower. Going into the spa, it was very small with about 2-3 rooms and 2 saunas, 1 of the steam rooms smelt of fish and one like sweaty feet so everyone avoided it so the aroma steam room and saunas were all full so everyone was pouncing when people came out of one. The thermal pool itself was nice and warm, we spent most of our 50mins in there which wasn’t what we went to do ideally. We did go in the main pool but most people just left after the thermal journey.
In the evening, we ate in the courtyard bar which was £9 for 5 chicken wings which were tasteless along with the rest of the food. It seemed that the bar area was dog friendly so we had a dog going round our legs whilst we ate and then the owner sat it on her knee and it was eating from her plate, enough to put us off and have dessert and drinks in the room. During the night it was non-stop shouting and running from other guests up until 5:30am.
In the morning the breakfast was lovely, which we were glad about, a nice selection for continental and then a cooked breakfast which was nicer than other spa hotels we have been to. The staff were really nice and we can’t discredit them at all. But I guess for over £100 per person (and the rest) it just wasn’t worth it for a ‘luxury’ spa night and the rooms being standard rooms.

My wife and I last went to the LDV in September 1977, for our honeymoon. Our most recent trip was the first time we had returned since then. Albeit the place had changed so much the staff, room and food in their restaurant were all excellent. I’m so pleased we went back. Thank you to all at the LDV

Pros: helpful staff, the food in the restaurant was really pleasant, nice but not extensive breakfast options, good lounge spaces, comfy bed in a room that was a decent size for a weekend stay. The gym was good.

Cons: The relatively simple check in process seemed to take an absolute age, annoying when there’s a bit of a queue. On check out, after queuing, we were told ‘oh, you could just leave the key on the desk’ which would’ve been fine had there been any indication that you could do this. Lots of the ‘public’ places seem like they haven’t been updated since it was first (re)built, such as the decor in the restaurant which is a bit dark and dingy. The display cases that make it look like a rebuilt Victorian street and I found them a bit pointless to be honest. They just seemed to have a load of dusty bric a brac in. The spa felt a bit like I was in a leisure centre and it’s just a bit weird lying in an infinity pool overlooking a housing estate where you could see people in their kitchens. The ‘thermal journey’ is more a collection of a couple of saunas and a cold shower.

I appreciate it’s very popular, particularly for weddings, and very successful but we left with a sense that this was becoming more through a lack of competition than anything new it’s doing as a spa hotel.

On the plus side all the staff were friendly and helpful, all areas were clean and tidy. We ate in the bar and courtyard restaurant and the meals were very tasty. On the downside the bedrooms could have done with an upgrade, our room lacked a chair to use at the vanity mirror! The radiator would not heat up despite reporting this twice, they did managed to get the towel rail to heat up, sadly this resulted in it leaking all over the bathroom floor. Not the best think to find when you get back late at night. Lastly I was disappointed that on a 2 night stay they didn’t replenish the milk/ tea supplies, or empty the bins.
It was conveniently located for the wedding we were attending but I wouldn’t stay there again

Second stay here as a solo guest. Check in was easy, plenty of information provided about the spa facilities and entertainment the following evening, as I was staying 2 nights.

Room was immaculate, first night was quieter than the second night - a Friday so it was busier. But the room was cosy, bed comfortable and had control of a wall heater so wasn't a slave to general hotel heating.

Spa facilities were wonderful, before 1pm and after 7pm you don't need to book a slot and it's generally quieter - my preference. Towels provided and changing rooms with £1 lockers available.

Room service was easy to ring through, arrived quickly and hot. Tray was not collected from outside the door until the following morning.

Breakfast both mornings was lovely. Ordered cooked breakfast at the table and continental buffet self serve.

The second evening I ate in The Drop Inn, food was nice but service a little slow with how quiet it was, especially around removing dirty plates and bringing the bill. Staff were friendly and welcoming though.

All round, another relaxing break away. As a single female guest I did not feel out of place, as I have at other hotels.

Not the best spa experience. The treatments were very lovely and the girls were very good, but the spa and the hotel rooms have seen better days. One of the Thermal Suite steam rooms wasnt working, one of the two showers weren’t working and half of the jets in the jacuzzi weren’t working either! Very disappointing. We stayed in the executive rooms but there was nothing executive about them. The walls are paper thin and the rooms are dull and dreary, which was upsetting as I paid for this as a Birthday present for 2 friends. The food in the restaurant at night was very nice 👌🏻 and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was good. But overall it wasn’t as good as the first time we went and unfortunately it will be the last time we go.

Booked the Wowcher deal last minute, this place isn’t too far from home but needed a break with the hubby that didn’t cost the earth. Deal included overnight stay, breakfast and spa access the night before and includes the following morning. I didn’t go with great expectations as some of the reviews were negative. How surprised I was! The receptionist was lovely, check in online was easy.. the room was spotless and was on the courtyard which was lovely lit up with fairy lights. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom modern with a powerful big walk in shower. Those complaining about a spider in your room, you’re in a semi rural area just kill it with a tissue and get on with your trip, deary me. Breakfast was fab. Asked for the bacon to be well done and it was perfect. Eggs were cooked perfectly poached and scrambled. Staff couldn’t do enough for you and all friendly and welcoming. The spa, well it was relaxing but don’t expect the woodland spa. But it was very clean and the big hot tub was great and all the thermal rooms were up and running. Yes the hot tub pool randomly overlooks a car park and some houses, maybe in time they can put a big screen up. All in all we have had a lovely relaxing short break for a great price and I won’t hesitate to recommend it to others. Thanks.

We have just arrived home after our third annual trip to The Last Drop. We stayed in an executive cottage room.
We stayed for 4 nights. On arrival, the reception staff remembered us from last year and welcomed us warmly. Our room was big and clean, a little jaded though.
Julie and Jazmin from breakfast service were brilliant. They were very welcoming. Jazmin also gave us excellent service at the Bakery that has opened up. Go there for a fantastic toastie. The food cannot be faulted. The French onion soup (we found out was made by Leon) was AMAZING! Every member of staff we came into contact with were lovely.
Now, there is a change in the hotel since last November. There appears to be much less staff, who appear to be working as hard as they can to keep things going. The hotel is not quite as clean as it once was. The rooms are in need of new carpets and deeper cleans.
We ordered room service on Saturday evening. The tray was still outside the door on Monday morning when we checked out.
We will be back next year for our annual trip. We spend time painting in the Bluebell Pottery while we are there. However, I’m going to be keeping an eye on reviews. If they get worse, we will book another hotel and travel up to the pottery.
PLEASE don’t let this hotel and your staff be run into the ground. You have a brilliant place. If I was the manager, I would be carrying out regular daily walk throughs. They can then see where things may require improvement. It’s the best way to be present and create a team atmosphere.

Food excellent staff very friendly Hotel clean but the rooms need more attention. If you opened the door at the same time as making a cup of tea it got covered with fluff ect. Anything above shoulder hieght never got cleaned.
And most of the little shops on site were closed it was a bit like the ghost town.

The hotel is definitely home away from home. We had fun as a group and did activities together.
Staff were very friendly and patient, they were always ready to help by showing you around or giving description.
They had some nice cocktail which was not too expensive.

I will definitely be coming back.
