I arrived in Preston on Monday evening after a five hour drive. What little parking at the hotel was already fully committed so I had to look elsewhere. The multistorey at the bus station opposite is being refurbished in places and access was very difficult. There are no carparks that I could find within easy distance of the hotel it would take other than cash payments. I finally found my way into the multistorey opposite and was able to use a parking app on my phone. Apart from that hotel services were efficient at check-in and checkout my room on the fifth floor was comfortable and quiet and I had a good night sleep. Breakfast was good and well presented I would definitely stay here again.

I am an IHG member.

Car park is small and was full when I arrived.

Building is drab and unwelcoming.

Reception upstairs. Ok welcome.

They arranged for me to park in an overflow car park. It was free.

Room - booked a double bed, got a twin. Reasonable size. Clean.

Bar - better service than reception. Polite and efficient.
San Miguel on draught.
Ordered a Chunky Beef Chilli with Rice - it was poor for nearly £13. Lacked taste, presentation and quantity!
Menu is so uninspiring. Come on food development person - try a bit harder. The menu itself doesn't make you excited to eat here.

Business - so so. Would choose if cheap.
Personal - never.

Average.

We visited today for an afternoon tea, which was lovely. We were served by Irene who was very friendly and attentive and made the experience even better.

We attended the Mac Millan coffee and cake event on 26th September. It was well organised by Nadine and well laid out with a good choice of cakes. Staff were very friendly and a we we're happy to contribute to a worthy cause.

A revisit to the murcur Blackrod. The place has has an uplift and looked good.. we had trouble booking a taxi during a busy period for an important meeting... Irene stepped in saved the day with the greatest of care and attention and even came out later to check it had arrived.... this is good old fashioned customer care at its best.

Rooms on top floor (2nd floor, 2 flights of stairs) were clean, but in need of updating. No plug sockets near the side tables and built in wardrobe furniture very dated. When I asked about a lift, I was told they didn't have one, however, on getting up to the first floor, there was a lift, but it was out of order. On the website it shows a pool, which i was hoping to make use of my first night, before a wedding the next day, only to be told it was closed and had been closed for a while as it was in need of extensive repair. If this is the case, take it off the website, your advertising something not available.
Breakfast was great, good quality and as much as you wanted. Staff were lovely and friendly.
Overall a nice stay, but could've been better.

Afternoon Tea for two. Lovely and welcoming experience. Irene met us on arrival and took us to our reserved table straight away. She asked if we were ready for our food which we said yes. Also my mum wanted a berry tea (Im definitely an English Breakfast kinda girl!). Off Irene went on the search for the berry tea as there was none left behind the bar. Came back with the food and the tea 😋 We requested Gluten Free due to allergies. And honestly couldn't fault it. We needed to double check it was gluten free because it just looked like normal food (anyone eating gluten free bread would understand that!)! It was all fabulous and we devoured the lot. Perfect place for a relaxed afternoon tea. No time pressures. Irene couldn't do enough for us! Please say thank you to Irene and the chef for looking after us! We will be back.

We had Afternoon tea which we’d won in a raffle. Irene looked after us and was lovely. She’d set us a table beautifully in a quiet corner and kept us topped up with tea and coffee. Food was presented very nicely by the chef and sandwiches were fresh and lovely. Cakes weren’t fresh but still nice. Thanks Irene!
