It's a great hotel with excellent service and very good breakfast, in a very central location... But it's very expensive and that makes it not the best value. The staff were faultless throughout the stay and the rooms were comfortable. You do get what you pay for but it still felt overpriced, which is a shame as it's a very good hotel indeed.

Just visited on Yorkshire Pudding Day. Wonderful meal, starter of smoked haddock on Yorkshire with poached egg was a real highlight. Roast sirloin of beef served with roasted potatoes another Yorkshire and plenty of vegetables and a rich gravy. I chose the famous cheesecake on the menu, a generous portion served with strawberry and coulis. Combined with fantasticly hospitalable team consisting of Andre and Mario who should have his name badge changed to Super Mario as he was so polite and courteous: Really added to our experience. We will most definitely re visit.

Excellent experience, only had a Prosecco and Cream Tea, but loved the atmosphere and the staff were absolutely brilliant too! Would certainly go back!

Super meal by Indian specialist Bronwent was first class and the restaurant service the same. Extremely good value considering the quality, the ambiance of the surroundings and the courtesy shown. If you think £15 is expensive don't order it.

Undoubtedly a very good hotel, but you would expect it to be for the price. Food very expensive and service patchy (particularly at breakfast - I would expect the table to be set properly and not have to ask for basics such as a butter knife) My big disappointment was the Indian Restaurant (which I was looking forward too) It only offers a very expensive fixed price 3 course menu - if you are older, you may not want 3 courses, so this was ruled out for us.

Came for a spa day with afternoon tea included. Spa staff could not have been more attentive. Only dropped a point for the cakes in the afternoon tea. Most of it was great but the cupcake was awful and the carrot cake was very dry. Other than that, really enjoyed it

Gym, the people at the gym are very helpful and it is a lovely little set up! I have just joined this week and already enjoying going and I don't really enjoy fitness any more so that's new for me. The staff have really helped me understand what I need to be doing and how to get started and I feel confident they will help me along my journey. :)

I think this is generally regarded as being _the_ hotel in Guernsey, so I was keen to stay here as part of our trip to the Channel Islands. I booked three nights here - the first two nights in a "Queen" room, and then our last night in a suite. I get the impression all the rooms are different, and perhaps we were just unlucky, but our first room was really very disappointing for the price. It was more expensive than anything we'd paid for during the rest of our time in the Channel Islands, but was smaller, the decor was fairly drab, and all the fittings looked really out of date. Having dragged our bags up the hill in the rain to get here I was not in the best of moods at this point.
In their defense though, I think the hotel handled it well. I spoke to the duty manager and explained that, in essence, I didn't think the room was worth the price, and they offered to upgrade us for free for our second night. So we ended up in the suite for two nights rather than one. The suite was, as you might expect, towards the other end of the spectrum, and was very spacious, with two balconies and two bathrooms, and the decor and fittings were of a much higher standard.
So in summary if you're prepared to splurge and go for one a suite it's a rather grand and impressive place to stay, but if you're going for one of the lower end rooms (which in my opinion were still fairly expensive) it's probably worth asking to see the room before committing. I think for at least some of their rooms they either need to refurbish or perhaps just lower the prices.

The venue looks amazing, deep red walls, pictures and memorabilia of the Raj. It's in the OGH which itself is full of history. The food was ok, the starter was inspiring and we hpyped for more. The mains were standard fare for a curry house and the cheesecake dessert was only ok. That said it wasn't a bad curry but it wasn't worth the £38 price tag before drinks. What really let the venue down was the service. I can manage a lazy meal but we waited 10 minutes to be seated in a room with 6 tables and no other diners. Half an hour for starter and in total nearly three hours to finish eating. There was only one staff member who said people often get angry and walk out. I'm not surprised.
