We stayed at the OGH Hotel for one night and had a fabulous time. From check-in to departure the experience was wonderful. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was gorgeous. A great stay and one we would highly recommend.

Having stayed at this delightful hotel before, we decided we would like to spend Christmas there. Our visit met and even exceeded our expectations which were very high anyway.

The staff are all friendly and helpful, and all the rooms which we have stayed in have been elegant and comfortable but still homely.

The food is excellent, both in the Brasserie and in "The Governors" Fine Dining Restaurant.

OGH as it is known, is a very short walk from the town centre. There is an excellent bus service round the island from the town, making the hotel an ideal base on the island.

The hotel is an exceptional place to stay and we are looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed at OGH for three nights to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and treated ourselves to their gourmet dinner. OGH is a great hotel offering excellent service which more than made up for the weather in Guernsey in January.

The OGH was the perfect venue for our Christmas wedding reception. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax, feel good and be treated like a VIP!!
We started planning our wedding reception 18 months before the big day and from then onwards, the service we received was helpful, professional and supportive of what we wanted. Unlike some bigger hotels, where you can feel like you are just a number, the OGH went out of their way to help us and really did make us feel like special and valued guests.
The manager of events was excellent at ensuring every detail of our day went without a hitch, such as liaising with our suppliers, arranging for the chair covers, gifts, trees, decorations, lights, table plans etc..... were placed exactly as we had asked. No request was too small, such as them providing a room we had dedicated to children's activities, they also provided a TV so the kids could watch DVDs.
The Regency room is a brilliant room for large functions, the wedding package the OGH provides, includes a delicious wedding menu which we were able to choose what we wanted (which included a menu tasting evening and meeting with the chef) it also covers the table centre pieces which again we chose exactly what we wanted, and a table plan designed by one of Guernsey's best wedding planners.
We upgraded our inclusive accommodation to the Herm Suite (although the room they provide as part of the package is lovely) The Herm Suite is truly remarkable, with a marbled en suite bathroom, and a gorgeous four poster bed (perfect for sharing breakfast in bed)! The staff did not forget a thing and on our wedding night we found rose petals in the shape of a heart on our bed, candles and a complimentary bottle of champagne and a card from the management and staff.
The next day we were again provided with complimentary champagne whilst enjoying afternoon tea after a relaxing session in the spa (which is also worth a visit). All the staff knew us by name and went out of their way to congratulate us and ensure we had everything we needed.
I could go on and on, but you really must experience the OGH for yourself. The Govenor's restaurant is divine, the Brasserie is an excellent place to enjoy great food in a relaxed atmosphere.
The OGH is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in, and is definitely in our opinion the best hotel in Guernsey.

We stayed at the OGH for 3 nights over New Year 2011. The hotel was excellent in every aspect. The staff, service and food were all exemplary. This is a very special hotel, that I would certainly go back to.

The decor and the rooms were all very tastefully done and were kept in immaculate condition.

We enjoyed a relaxing few days stay at the OGH. The attention to detail and presentation of the suites / rooms is exceptional.....as is the presentation of the main hotel areas and dining rooms. The staff are to be totally congratulated on this superb standard . They are friendly ,accomodating, highly effecient, knowledgeable and just so 'very nice' , nothing was ever too much trouble.
We thoroughly enjoyed dining and can truthfully recommend both restaurants..... The Governor's Dining Room was a treat of 'fine dining'. The Brasserie equally excellent.
It was just so very enjoyable to have pre dinner drinks in the Sir John Coward sitting room with canapes, a gin and tonic, the Telegraph crossword and a roaring log fire.
Our experience was like staying in a jolly good country house for the weekend BUT with first class amenities!
If you want relaxing first class surroundings, good food, lovely presented luxury bedrooms, attentive staff, and to be totally looked after you can do no better.... My vote is the OGH ! A treat for a few days away or any special occasion....it cannot be faulted.......try it .....you will not regret it !
I'm actually thinking of organising our next "Ladies Luncheon' which happen once a month, and flying a group of us over from Exeter to Guernsey for the day ......A little shopping , VAT free ! and a wonderful lunch at the OGH. I am sure the Manager, Andrew Chantrell will be only to happy to organise this occasion for us. In anticipation , thank you Andrew !...... and may I congratulate you on the high standard, old world luxury charm that you have managed to achieve and maintain at the OGH.
