Small changes that make a massive difference


	Hi It is getting chilly in the office and it does feel like October. We simply find it difficult to believe that when we send you our next Newsletter both Halloween and Bonfire night will have been and gone. So, whilst these two occasions are not necessarily opportunities, they have made us think about time passing us by and possible opportunities that may be missed by businesses. One of the most common missed opportunities that we discover when speaking to local businesses is the collection of reviews and testimonials. When we discuss reviews and how these are an integral part of your Bestof profile, businesses tell us that their customers often give them feedback during face to face meetings or via telephone conversations. However, they just do not ask if the customer would allow them to write down their comments in the format of a short quote or testimonial, which is why we promote the collection of reviews heavily and supply review cards too. Customer feedback is increasingly sought before buying products or subscribing to services. With so many online platforms including your web site and social media demanding a continual flow of fresh content, a regular influx of customer feedback can be an additional source of new information to showcase on these platforms. We have also been thinking about missed opportunities with social media. Whilst so many of us are active on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn with business pages and accounts, do we make our customers aware of this through other means or are we just hoping that marketing our social media presence through social media or possibly via our web site is doing enough for us? For example, do you have your social media links on your email signature? If you are a retailer or have a reception area at your premises, is there anything around that shows your customers you have a Facebook page, Twitter feed or LinkedIn account that they can ‘like’, ‘follow’ or ‘connect to’? These all seem like simple little ideas, that are overlooked and small changes can so easily enhance your 'joined up' approach. When we meet with local businesses, we readily offer advice, because as someone from the outside looking in with our marketing experience and know how, we often find small missed opportunities where you can make small changes and gain new customers.
