A child's visual pathways are set by the time the child reaches 7 years old. We came across this interesting and highly important fact in an article from Billson Opticians "Dear Parents and Grandparents" which can be found in the blogs section of this newsletter.
Ian Billson explains that if you do not get your child's eyes tested before they are 7 years old and they have developed a problem with their eyesight such as a "lazy" eye, this cannot be fixed. If the problem was spotted when the child was 4, there would be 3 years to fix the problem before the child's eyesight was set.
The article emphasises just how important it is to get your child's eyes tested regularly, especially whilst they are younger.
