The Brighton Comedy Festival starts tomorrow, with a string of comedy acts at the Komedia, Brighton Dome and Hove’s Open Market. There will be improvisation, stand-up, sketches and more throughout the next fortnight. Highlights include Dara O’Briain, and Ed Byrne’s “Outside, Looking In” show. Book lovers will enjoy City Reads, which starts on Saturday. The idea is that the whole community reads one book (it’s a kind of giant book club), with events, workshops and performances. The book of choice is The Humans by Matt Craig, and you can download the ebook with your library PIN. If you’re in town on Saturday and haven’t heard of The Color Run, you might wonder why Brighton is teeming with paint-spattered people. Color Run is a 5k race where participants get sprayed with paint at various points of the course. The Brighton Toy and Model Museum has a children’s playday on Sunday (2-5pm), with a Halloween theme. Kids can dress up as a witch, pumpkin or monster and take part in activities including arts and crafts, building train sets and a quiz. It’s £5 per child with an accompanying adult free.
