With two piers – one arguably in rather better nick than the other – there’s no better place than Brighton for an exhibition of photographs dedicated to those long, thin structures that stretch into the sea. Local photographer Simon Roberts has spent three years photographing of all of the country’s remaining pleasure piers. The exhibition, Pierdom, opens at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday and runs until February. http://brightonmuseums.org.uk/

Visit Churchill Square on Sunday for free kids’ entertainment. The Snapper Jaxx kids club runs in the shopping centre on the first Sunday of every month. October’s fun sees a 20 minute performance of “To The Moon and Back” on the hour every hour between 11am and 4pm. There are also drop in craft sessions. The Brighton Record and CD Fair is taking place at the Brighton Centre Syndicate Wing, Russell Road on Sunday, with a range of new and vintage items on all formats. Early admission before the masses haul themselves out of bed is £5 (from 8.30am) with standard admission, from 9.30am, costing £2.
