Hi
After the marathon runarounds of last weekend, some sedentary pursuits for you to enjoy this week...
It’s Record Store Day on Saturday, when independent record shops around the world celebrate their place in our popular culture. There’s a special celebration at the Dome, which is hosting a day-long music festival. Among theconfirmed acts are Traams, The Fiction Aisle and Robb Johnson. The event is being supported by Brighton’s Resident record shop. It costs £6 to get in and you will be given a wrist band so you can come and go throughout the day. For more details, visit www.brightondome.org
If you’re a fan of British motoring history, and Austin 7s in particular, you’ll be able to wallow in nostalgia this Sunday during the annual Austin 7 car run. During the inter-war years, these were the most popular cars in the UK and there are plenty still in working order. The rally begins in London and the cars will start arriving on Brighton’s Madeira Drive any time after 10am. The historic vehicles head back at about 6pm. For more details, visit http://ww3.brighton-hove.gov.uk/
Spend Saturday afternoon learning a new skill at the Regency Town House in Brunswick Square. For £15 (including materials, tea and cake….) you can learn simple techniques to make decorative paper flowers, inspired by Georgian paper crafts. Proceeds go to the Brunswick Town Charitable Trust. For more information and details about how to book, see www.rth.org.uk/flower-workshop
If you have children (or love children’s shows), Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs is being staged at the Old Market in Hove on Saturday. The show promises an action-packed theatrical experience with live music, puppetry, physical performance and dastardly dinosaurs. The show is suitable for children aged three and above and there are performances at 1.30pm and 4pm. More on www.theoldmarket.com/shows/captain-flinn/
Meanwhile at the Rialto Theatre (nearby the clock tower), 'Sin and Salvation' is a new musical comedy by the Heather Brothers, the team that brought 'A Slice of Saturday Night' to the stage. Kicked off on the 14th, it will run to 25th of April so time enough yet to catch a side-splitting performance. 241 Tickets offer available to our readers on matinee shows.
