We used this hotel as a base for a long weekend. We were welcomed pleasantly by the Reception staff and given the keys to our room. I had to pay for the room on arrival which negates the possibility of being able to charge things to the bill. As it was we had to pay for drinks and dinner separately which was a bit of a pain.
No porterage so we had to carry our luggage ourselves. The twin room was fine with a bath and shower over. The window opened slightly but it was quite hot and there is no air conditioning. Towels were rather thin but of a good size. Face flannels were provided but on the second day were not replaced but were washed out by the room cleaner. We did not use them after that!
We were on the 5th floor which was quiet apart from noisy guests leaving on the Saturday night.
We ate in the Brasserie on both nights. The staff were most attentive and fairly well trained - though the wine was opened and poured without tasting on each evening. The menu was slightly strange with rather peculiar mixtures on it. The prices were reasonable.
Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice. Good selection of bread, cheese, fruit etc and cooked breakfast too - but when will hotels learn that fried eggs need to be cooked freshly. Nothing worse than cold, hard, fried egg!
We did not see the leisure centre.
The hotel is attached to Bolton Wanderers football club. They were playing away the weekend we were there. Might be more noisy of there was a match on..
Overall the hotel was good value for money and the staff are all friendly, cheerful and willing. We would stay again.

I enjoyed my stay here and had a room over looking the pitch, which meant it was nice and quiet. Good welcome at check in a efficient check out. My room was clean and nicely decorated, as were all the public areas I used.
There are a large choice of well known restaurants chains a short walk away in the retail park and a restaurant in the hotel. But I chose to have a bar meal and enjoyed an excellent house burger.
Breakfast has a large choice served as a buffet, the quality was good. But unfortunately my cooked breakfast was only lukewarm and, as I was off to an early morning meeting, I did not have time to ask for it to be heated.
Over all good place to stay and I hope to be back.

i spent one night in a pitch view room after attending a function.

Bed was comfortable and although I prefer to sleep with a window open the air con did a reasonable job.

Check in and out was efficient and breakfast very tasty.

Would recommend

This is an excellent hotel. Reception and bar areas are clean and attractive. The room was very clean, well-provided and comfortable. Bed and bedding comfortable, bathroom bright and clean. Towels were fine (not thin as suggested by some reviewers). Breakfast was a good selection and well presented. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Very good value and compares excellently with other hotels we have stayed in recently. Will come again!

I booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my 9 year old to watch his first football match. We were in a corner pitch view room and it was worth every penny. Match tickets were included in the rate and we struggled to choose whether to watch the match in the room or in the stadium. In the end we stayed in the stadium but enjoyed our view of the pitch when we returned to the room. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was very comfy and we all had a great night's sleep (unusual for me in a hotel). Breakfast was delicious in the morning and we used the leisure facilities before we left. I can't fault the hotel at all and we will definitely be back.

I’ve stayed in this hotel (literally a hundred times!) when it was part of the De Vere Group, and was a little nervous that standards might have dropped recently. How wrong I was!

The rooms I’ve stayed in all could do with a little bit of a refresh, but they are all well-equipped (new HD TV’s are a real bonus) and are clean. The free wifi is fast and works really well and most floors are easily accessible – however, you might need to let the hotel know in advance if you really struggle with stairs as there is one floor that can be awkward to get to when using the main lift.

The real winner for me though is how much the food has improved. I can still list the old room service menu from memory and was a little worried that the food might suffer with the change, but the new chef and their team have really done a great job and have not sacrificed any noticeable quality in bringing together an deeply impressive menu at a great price.

I would normally heartily recommend any stay at the Bolton Whites, but I won’t. For goodness sake, don’t stay there – if you do, the extra bookings just might prevent me from reserving another room!

Second time we have stopped here. Easy access to M6 and Trafford centre. The rooms are very comfortable. Shower, bath, iron, trs press, tv, coffee making facilities. The hotel bar is well stocked (but be warned prices are hotel prices and are a little steep) Breakfast was excellent (but again a little pricey) there is a good selection of shops and restraunts surrounding hotel so there are eating options. Would I recommend this.... absolutley.

I stopped for 1 night on a Saturday there was a football match on which you thought might make a difference to the noise level which I wouldn't have been bothered about but there was none at all the rooms are nice and spacious and very clean the bed was very comfortable to the bar area and eating area are very spacious and the staff very friendly and polite I wish I had booked a room overlooking the pitch as I bet that would be a experience the surrounding area has lots of places to eat and there's a cinema bowling alley so would I recommend this hotel yes defiantly the only thing I wish they would change is the price for breakfast 25 pounds for 2 people which is expensive as there is a harvester over the road

We used this hotel as a stopover. The room was great and price very reasonable. The staff were very helpful we even checked in a lot earlier than stated. There are plenty of places to eat and shop on the retail park next to the hotel.
We would definitely stop here again.
