This is a great theatre. Well laid out, good acoustics and very friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately I am not local - otherwise I’d be a regular visitor.

Popped in for some lunch - good food, good value and a really nice atmosphere. I recommend the vegetable chow mein.

We went to see a performance of chanting and dance by the monks of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, based now in Karnataka in South India as they cannot live, pray and teach freely in their home monastery in Tibet.
There was a short introduction in English, by one of their English supporters, describing the context of what we were going to see and hear. Each piece was probably no longer than 10 -12 minutes (one was shortened from 5 hours!), so the performance was accessible and enjoyable. The dance costumes are stunning in their colours and intricate Buddhist designs.
I'm a Christian, not a Buddhist, but I'm always interested to experience other cultures; there was a stall selling Buddhist merchandise which I didn't buy, but I did buy a gorgeously soft Tibetan yak wool shawl as a birthday present for one of my sisters.
I believe these performances should be supported: when a culture dies, part of our human history dies.
